JADE'S POV-

                        Since Dariush looked really weak, Jac and I held Jay for the rest of the way, "Come on. You okay? That cut looks terrible," Gabriel asked Dariush, his cut looked really painful, "I'm okay, I'm all right." he said his eyes on Jay alot, "She's okay. We will tell you when she is back up okay?" I reassured him. "Let's just get this key to JPL." Alex said and we began to run again. Since we had been running for a while, all of us decided to walk for a a bit. Zhen and Jac were holding Jay now since my arms began to hurt. I went and stood next to Alex wondering if I should tell him that I like him. "That was really cool driving back there." Alex started a conversation, "Yeh it was, and thanks for helping me you know so I didn't get eaten." I laughed at the end of the sentence, "It's okay. I didn't want to lose you back there." he said nervously. "I couldn't of done that driving back there.." he said looking down, "You don't give yourself enough credit." I nudged him, "I'm told girls find bravery attractive. I've never really had much of that." he said again not making eye contact, I stopped and remembered that he knows Mandarin and back at home my tutor taught me some, pulling his arm I looked him in the eyes and said, (in Mandarin) "My whole life I have been searching for love. When I first saw you... I knew you were the one. If you feel the same way... kiss me now and we will be together forever." I smiled after finishing, he looked at me and I waited but he said, "I'm sorry, my Mandarin is rudimentary. What did you say?" he asked me. I chuckled softly and patted his shoulder, "What did you say? Jade, I don't actually speak Mandarin." I sighed and walked off over to the other girls, but Gabriel caught my attention, "Yo. Look! Look, JPL!" "What?" "Whoa!" "Guys! Guys! Jay is waking up!" Jackie yelled, "Uhh- What happened?" she asked as she regained her balance, "Nothing much you just fell of a bridge." All of us laughing at Jackie's statement, "Dariush your hurt, oh my god.." she ran up to him, "Hey I'm okay. And I am glad you are too." he kissed her forehead, "Let's go!" Zhen yelled and we all ran to the building. The closer we got the more the building looked empty, "Man this place got hit hard," Gabriel panted, "The building is destroyed. Nobody can survive that." JAckie agreed but the radio went off, "He's still here. Dr. Fielding's still here!" Jay yelled, she seemed a lot better and back to normal. "This way.." Alex yelled and we followed him over to the building. "If we get out of this alive, NASA's paying for my therapy." Dariush panted. We got into the building and we were speed walking through the corridor, "Oh, wow. They're testing plasma rockets. Those things burn hotter than the surface of the Sun." alex told us, "Look, all we gotta do is get this key to Dr. Fielding then you can look at all the nerd porn you want." Dariush commented. We ran up some stairs and into a room , "Dr. Fielding!" "Dr. Fielding!" "We have the key sir!" we called out his name but no response, "We have the key!" "Hello!" We all ran together and Jackie went off, "Over here." she yelled looking at something, we all ran over, "Dr. Fielding!" "Go, go, go!" but we stopped yelling once we saw it. A dead Dr. Fielding. Gabriel went to check his pulse, "He's dead guys." "But how? He was contacting us!" Alex asked, all of our eyes followed down to his hands where blood was dripping onto the calling button, "Fuck!" Jay whispered, "Shoot!" we turned away, all of us distraught from the sight. "We've failed..." Alex gasped, "It's over." we walked away. "I mean let's be honest guys. Who do we think we are?" Dariush asked,

All of us admitted. "I guess I'll go try find my parents." Dariush looked around and took Jay's hand, "Me too" Alex muttered, "alex" "gabe" Jac and I whispered. Zhen, Jac and I all looked at each other as the rest walked off, we sat down like when we share our pasts, Zhen pulled out a glow stick snapping it and placing it in the middle. Alex walked back, "What are you doing?" he asked, I just smiled at him and he smiled back sitting next to me, Dariush and Jay came back hand in hand and Gabriel came back getting tackled into a hug by Jac. We all sat in a circle getting comfortable Dariush reached over and grabbed something, "Look. They didn't even get to open this. Well since we are all gonna die together, may I propose a toast? Oh crap. This is from 1916! I mean could at least get some fresh wine if this gonna be my first time, right?" he groaned making us all laugh, "Great toast" Jay said, chucking it back we thought it would smash but a voice came from somewhere, "Citadel, this is Crystal Palace." we all stood up quickly, "What?" "What was that?" "Go!" "What the heck?" "Citadel -... this is Crystal Palace. Do you copy?" "We're here, over!" Alex said, "Citadel, identify yourself. What is your name, ma'am? Over!" The guy asked, "I'm Alex." "How old are you?" "I'm 13. And if you don't mind me asking, who are we talking to?" "This is General George Khoury at Cheyenne Mountain. Is anyone alive at JPL? Is Dr. Fielding there?" "There are 7 of us, everyone else is dead. The astronaut sent us, before she died." Jac and Gabriel were sorting out Jay and Dariush who both looked at though they were about to pass out, grabbing 2 chairs and sitting them down, "You were sent by Major Collins?" "Yeah, that's why we came. She gave us the key and said something about Excalibur" I said in in a duh tone, "What? You have the crypto key in your possession?" "That's right. What do we need to do to get it to work?" Alex asked, "Nothing. You need to get out of there. I'm... I'm sorry. It's over. There's nothing you kids can do against this thing. Now get out of there immediately, we're sending 2 units to pick you-" we all began to walk away until Jackie's voice stopped us, "No." "What did you say and that sounded like a girl..." "Yeah this is a girl and I said no. We made a promise that we wouldn't let anything stop us. So I'm gonna keep trying and it will be a lot easier if you would help us. I didn't nearly die to give up now, we didn't come all this way to give us now. We're done being told what we can and can't do. We made it across half of the southern California.
