Like the others. Jade is no different as she made a run for her life.
Jade is blessed with directions so she was very lucky to not find herself in a dead end.

She continued running for hours and eventually decided to stop for a small break.

As she was catching her breath. Jade heard rustles of leaves and she quickly whipped to her back.

"Mother!!?" Jade nearly screamed after seeing her own mother who was about to attack her.

"Jade!?" Her mother exclaimed and quickly withdrew her dagger the sooner she realized it was her daughter.

"My precious pearl! I thought you're a stray soul!" She said and glowered at the princess.

Jade simply giggled before hugging her mother tightly.
Her mother was alienated by the gesture since hugs isn't very common in the water. So she gently pushed off her daughter as the stern expression remained on her face.

Jade noticed it of course. But her mother is too beautiful even when she's mad and she only looked more fierce.

But then Jade realized something.

"Wait! Mother, what are you doing in this place!? What happened?! Did you die!?" Jade panicked and quickly started checking her mother to see any sign that she was indeed dead.

"Oh hush!" She raised her voice and pried off her daughter. "Your father sent me here! I was also surprise why this place among others!" She explained as she started walking. Jade walked behind her like her tail.

"Father did that? But why? He never allowed you to step on evil lands so how on the ocean did he allowed you here!?" She queried filled with confusion.

Her mother rolled her eyes and immediately gave her an annoyed look.

"Because of you! You id**t!" She said and Jade looked at her with a dumbfounded expression.

"W-what's wrong? What do you mean?" She asked with a shaky voice.

And she now feels horrible because her mother always have that dominant presence that she couldn't get used to. And it sucks because she looks like a horrible pathetic and weak princess in front of her queen.

It's one of the reasons why Jade became a savage creature in water. To prove her mother that she can be the princess of her dreams. That she can be as brave, powerful, strong and dominant as she is.
To be someone who doesn't need any trumpets to earn everyone's attention. Someone who can instill fear to others just by simply swimming pass them. Someone who will leave an impression that will last forever.

"Our people put their hopes on you to find us our next king! But here you are and what are you doing!? You're slacking off!" She reprimanded her daughter harshly.

"I can't believe you disappointed us. We trusted you with this mission because you will be the next queen. But you disappointed us by putting yourself first and not our people!"

"Now your father sent me here to do your mission instead!"

"Mother you don't understand! There is a big reason why I'm doing this! But I promise I'm doing everything I can to complete my mission!" Jade defended herself and her mother immediately snapped at her.

"And how long will that take!? Forever!? Our purebloods are getting diminished each day! And you are doing nothing to prevent that as their future queen!"

"Mother it's not like that! I found someone! I just need more time." She said and her mother gave her the look.

That look that says 'you suck at lying'.

"You mean that winter boy!? If you really wanted to complete your mission, you could've just seduced him and taken him to our kingdom! And then our catastropic problem will be solved!" She yelled and Jade lowered her head.

"You listen to me Jade! You don't need to like him! We just need his genes for another pureblood! You can abandon him once you have a child with him! There will always be more mermen for you in our kingdom! We're just gonna use that boy!" She said with a convincing tone and held her daughter by her shoulders.

Jade was terrified from what she was hearing from her mother.

Her mother would never speak like that. And the fact that she was sent here by his father is already unbelievable. But Jade knows her mother's scent so well and that scent is present everywhere around her. Meaning that she is really there.

"No. I-I like him. And I want everything to be genuine with him. I don't want to use him and he is aware of our situation." Jade heavily defended. "Mother. He promised that he will try to help us." She added and her mother scoffed in return.

"If he meant that promise! You two are suppose to be married already! He's nothing but words!"

"No! Stop saying things like that! He'll probably see this and you're only embarassing me!" Jade couldn't help but yell as the frustration finally gets to her.

"You're already an embarassment to our people!!!"
