AN: Just letting you guys know that I'm skipping to the dinner party episode.
A couple days went by. Maddie woke up to her phone buzzing. "Hello." She answered, groggily.
"Hello darling." Elijah greeted. "Did I happen to wake you up?"
"Yeah, but that's ok." Maddie answered, perking up more.
"I apologize." Elijah said.
"It's alright." Maddie said. "Did you need something?"
"I was inquiring if you would like to join me for breakfast this morning." Elijah said.
"I would love that." Maddie replied.
"Great." Elijah said. "I'll meet you at the cafe, then."
"See you in a few." Maddie said before hanging up. Maddie got out of bed and quickly got dressed. She grabbed her purse and headed downstairs.
"Where are you off to?" Her uncle questioned.
"Grabbing something to eat at the cafe." Maddie answered.
"Enjoy." Damon said.
"I'll see you later, Uncle Damon." Maddie said as she left the house. Fortunately for her, her dad was spending the weekend with Elena at her family's lake house. So, Maddie didn't have to deal with her father.
As Maddie arrived at the cafe, she saw Elijah sitting at a table. "Hello." Elijah greeted. He stood up and pulled the other chair out for Maddie.
"Hi." Maddie said, sitting down.
A waiter came over them. Maddie ordered a mocha latte and a toasted bagel with cream cheese. After Elijah ordered, the waiter walked away.
"How are you?" Elijah asked.
"I'm good." Maddie replied.
"Are you better after spending days in a tomb?" Elijah asked.
"Yes." Maddie said. At that moment, the waiter brought their food and drinks. "There is something I wanted to ask you." Maddie said as she started to eat.
"And what is that?" Elijah asked.
"Katherine said that you two were together." Maddie said.
"Why are you listening to anything Katerina says." Elijah said.
"Is it true?" Maddie asked.
Elijah sighed. "When Niklaus and I first met Katerina, she had an affection for me." Elijah explained. "But, I didn't reciprocate the feelings." Maddie nodded. "So, as part of my cover, Elena's aunt is showing me the property lines around the town." Elijah said. "Would you care to join us?"
"That sounds fun." Maddie started. "But, I'm going to hang out with a friend today."
"Alright." Elijah said. "Have fun."
"You have fun, too." Maddie said. She finished eating and went to pay for her meal, but Elijah stopped her.
"I got it." He said.
"Are you sure?" Maddie asked.
"Yes." Elijah said.
"Thank you for breakfast." Maddie said.
"You're certainly welcome." Elijah said.
Maddie stood up and headed to the Gilbert residence. When she got to the house, Maddie knocked on the door.
"Hi Maddie." Jenna said. "Are you looking for Jeremy?"
"Yeah. I was going to see if he wanted to hang out." Maddie said.
"He's inside." Jenna said, letting her inside. "Sorry, I'm in a hurry." Jenna hurried out of the house.
"Jeremy?" Maddie called. She heard a door open and saw Jeremy coming down the stairs.
"Maddie!" He said, hugging. "You're alright."
"Yeah, I'm ok." Maddie said.
"That was a really stupid thing you did running into that tomb." Jeremy said.
"Is that the thanks I get for saving your life and risking mine?" Maddie asked.
"Thank you." Jeremy said, chuckling. "I am grateful that you saved my life."
"That's more like it." Maddie said. The two laughed. "How are you doing?" Maddie asked. "You didn't look so good the last time I saw you."
"I'm much better now." Jeremy said.
"Good." Maddie said.
"Do you want to hang out or something?" Jeremy asked.
"Why do you think I'm here?" Maddie asked.
"Alright then." Jeremy said.
"So, how have you been?" Maddie asked.
"Bonnie and I kissed." Jeremy said.
"What!" Maddie said. "When?"
"The other day." Jeremy replied.
"Do you like her?" Maddie asked.
"Yeah." Jeremy answered.
"Does she like you?" Maddie asked.
"I think she liked the kiss, but I'm not sure." Jeremy said. "She said that she's only ever seen me as her best friend's little brother."
"I'm sure you guys will figure it out." Maddie said.
"Thanks." Jeremy said. "Oh. And don't tell Elena anything. Bonnie wants to talk to her first about it."
Maddie nodded. They spent the afternoon hanging out.
Maddie headed back to the boarding house by early evening.
"Put something nice on." Damon said. "We're hosting a dinner party tonight."
"Why?" Maddie asked.
"Just because." Damon said.
"Who's coming?" Maddie asked.
"Andie, Jenna, Alaric, and Elijah." Damon answered.
"Ok." Maddie said. "I'll go get ready." She headed up to her room.
Since Elijah was coming, Maddie spent a lot of time deciding what to wear. Once she finally picked out an outfit, she hopped into the shower. When she finished the shower, Maddie did her hair and makeup. She put shoes on and looked at herself in the mirror.

Maddie made her way downstairs. "You look nice." Damon said. "Thanks Uncle Damon." Maddie said.
