I've heard a lot about the platform Notion within the online study community (a lot of people use it for taking notes/organizing their assignments/keeping track of schedules), and last night, thought, "Hmm, I wonder if I could use that for my stories."

I've been using Google Docs to write and plan my stories for a few years now. I generally like it, but I'm a person who likes to be very digitally organized (I'm the type who has a folder inside of a folder inside of a folder inside of a— you get it) and Docs just wasn't appealing to that need. I also have four separate accounts I use for various aspects of Docs (school/chapters/story outlines/personal stuff) in an attempt to have my chapters all in one place, and my story outlines in another, but again, it wasn't working. I found it difficult to locate things from the past and thought it was time-consuming to go back and put my things in the correct folders.

And man, Notion is for people like me. You can put a link to a page that features another link to a page and so on, which is exactly what I was looking for. There are also a bunch of different widgets and types of pages you can make for all of your needs. You can create multiple "Home" pages for various topics. For example, I have one for my writing and then a personal one. It's both a website and a desktop/mobile app so it's accessible from anywhere!

I used a template from a lovely user I follow on Instagram, @/ariellestudying. Building a Notion page from scratch can be a little overwhelming since there are so many options, so I like that you can import templates made by other users so you have a place to start.

I like how you can have a bunch of stuff "at a glance" and then delve deeper into various pages. The organization is exactly how I like it for my brain to function, and I loved making it look cute!

The Directory is where I will be putting everything related to each series/book. Right now, I only have my ongoing books there since I'm not sure how I want to organize my completed works yet. I don't know if I want to make separate tabs for each one or make one tab which will then lead to links to pages for each completed book/series. (Again, folder in a folder in a folder.)
