ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢ -betrayal-

You lay alone in your large bed, Adam had departed for extermination and you were on edge. Your eyes open your body spread open and you are entirely focused on the ceiling. You knew you should be worried for Adams well-being but you couldn't help but worry for Lucifer and Charlie. The poor girl was still young and you feared for her safety.

The fear of Charlie falling into the crosshairs haunted you, driving you to the brink of madness. With a sudden burst of energy, you bolted out of bed and made your way to the kitchen, desperate for any distraction. Cooking, watching a film, and burying yourself in a book did little to quiet the cacophony of screaming and crying demons echoing in your mind.

Startled by a knock on the window, you whirled around to find another cherub fluttering outside, bearing a message from the court. With a swift motion, your magic opened the doors, revealing the cherub. "Good morning, Mrs. L/N! Got a message from the court for ya!" the cherub chirped. Your curiosity piqued, and you nodded, prompting the cherub to continue, "There are a few new surprise trials they need to deal with, nothing too big, just a few disputes with angels."

You nodded appreciatively at the little cherub before he departed, then rose from your seat to prepare yourself. You changed into fresh, more elegant robes, nicely arranged your hair, and carefully fluffed out your wings.

Once you were ready, you exited your abode and gracefully took to the air, swiftly making your way to the court.

As the court cases unfolded, you couldn't help but find them tedious. Arguments between angels over trivial matters like shop failures because of weak support barely held your interest. It occurred to you that your behavior had been shifting since that last encounter with Luci. The routine you had managed for centuries was wearing on you. The court ended and the day was nothing special, you worked, you met up with Sera, and helped Em. The day slipped by swiftly, and soon you found yourself back home, shedding your robes for the comfort of an oversized t-shirt, a garment rarely worn by Adam. You settled against the headboard of your bed, your wings serving as cushions, with a book in hand.

You find yourself occasionally consumed with concern for Adam, your mind trapped in a loop of worry as you repeatedly read the same sentence. Glancing toward the expansive window dominating one side of your bedroom, you're greeted by a breathtaking view of the city skyline, illuminated by a myriad of twinkling lights that seem to paint the heavens.

Lost in the beauty beyond, you're drawn back to reality by the creak of your bedroom door opening. Turning your gaze, you spot Adam entering, his weary form adorned with streaks of demon blood staining his clothes. Despite the fatigue evident in his expression, his lips curve into a tired smile as he catches sight of you. With a gentle movement, you discard the blanket and inch closer to him, settling on the edge of the bed with hands folded neatly in your lap.

Adam approaches, his eyes meeting yours with that familiar, exhausted smile, his touch warm against your cheek. "Sorry about the mess," he murmurs, his voice carrying a hint of apology, "Got a bit rough out there." Your response is a soft smile, accompanied by a gentle inspection of his stained robes.

Noticing traces of golden blood amidst the crimson, your concern spikes, and you instinctively reach out to draw him nearer. "What happened?" you inquire, your worry evident in your tone. Adam shrugs it off casually, assuring you, "Nothing serious, just a scrape Luth picked up. She needed some patching up, that's all." Your smile faltered at his response, you release his arm and lean in for a tender kiss, the intensity of your connection palpable.
