Forbidden Love

Before I start, I just wanted to say this takes place 3 years in the future from where I am in the mafia AU.

Lotus' POV

Ash and I have been dating for about a month, but I still hadn't told my parents about my relationship out of fear of their reaction.

With Crystal finishing her mini tour and going back to mafia business for the next few months, I didn't really have an excuse to hide it much more since Skyler and Flyn liked to ask about everyone's relationships.

I arrived home with Atlas and Femi a few hours before dinner, so we were playing videogames with Artemis, when we heard the door open and saw Crystal walk in.

She hung out with us for a while before dinner was ready to be put on the table.

We all sat at the table and started to talk about things like how school was and what was going on in each of our own lives.

"On another note, Lotus, anything new and exciting with you?" [Bryan]

"Well, I finally started dating someone" [Lotus]

"Fun, who's the guy and what's his name? Just asking so I can run a background check'' [Inpu]

"Ash Lightstone, that celebrity I had a crush on" [Lotus]

Papa started to choke on his food slightly, so dad quickly started to make sure he was ok before papa gave me a worried look.

"I'm sorry, did you say Lightstone?" [Bryan]

"Yeah, why..." [Lotus]

"Just need to talk with you, your other father, and older sister once dinner is over" [Bryan]

I tried to guess what was wrong, but the only indicator I had was the fact both dad and Crystal lowered their ears.

Dinner finished up on a bit of an awkward note, but as I was cleaning up, both my dads and my older sister walked into the room.

"Alright, you know something we don't, so explain" [Inpu]

"Lightstone is Jakey's last name, or at least what he had back in high school, ever since the incident, I noticed he used a different one since he graduated" [Bryan]

"Ok, so he's got the same last name as an enemy, what does this do to me?" [Crystal]

"Guess who shot someone in the arm during a raid looking for the one who used the name for years" [Inpu]

"So what does that mean for my relationship, I've been dating him for a month, this shouldn't be what prevents me from being happy" [Lotus]

"You're right, it shouldn't, but that's not going to stop us from taking protective measures" [Inpu]

"What I'm getting is that I have to be secretive with this, that doesn't seem fair, Crystal didn't have to keep secrets, tell them It shouldn't matter" [Lotus]

"While normally I would agree, Skyler and I had a different story, I knew and told them when I needed help, otherwise I wouldn't have told them a thing" [Crystal]

"I don't want to keep secrets, no extra secrets at least" [Lotus]

"Then you won't, here are my rules, you can't bring him to our house, you can't bring up our last name to him, and you can't bring up any mafia details" [Inpu]

"My last name shouldn't be hidden, yeah, I understand your last name, but papa's shouldn't be an issue" [Lotus]

"Bud, the issue is Jakey knows my last name well, he used to call me by my last name every time he picked me up for a date, the second he hears yours, we could have an enemy on our trail again" [Bryan]

"But I can't have a relationship built on lies" [Lotus]

"Then listen to dad's rules, you can still tell him the truth on other things, but when it comes to how we live and what we do normally, you tell him nothing" [Crystal]

"Look, bud, you know how dangerous the job is, if any of our info gets into the wrong hands, who's to say what happens to us?" [Bryan]

I just looked at the ground, I knew my parents well, they knew what they were doing.

Nothing could be risked, everyone under this roof knew something that could he harmful if it got out, it also didn't make it any better that dad vented to papa about work, so they both knew almost everything.

I just decided to agree, after all, I wasn't going to break up with my boyfriend because he was against my mafia, I just had to be very careful with what I said around him.
