I walk in a haze back to the classroom,
a few seconds before the first bell rings,
and take a seat next to Kiya and Mei.
"Hey, are you feeling alright?"
Mei whispers, nudging closer.
"What? Yeah, I feel fine. Just a little tired."
"We were looking for you during lunch break,
where did you go?"
It's Kiya this time, she leans in too and rests her elbows on my desk.
"Sorry, I was in the-"
"Harmony Aydan?"
Our teacher calls out,
cutting me off
mid-sentence.
I perk up from my seat
and look at the teacher,
"Yes Miss?"
"The deputy headmistress wants you.
You too, Mei."
We freeze in our seats
and glance at each other
but we're both equally confused.
"Okay..."
