Eli had watched, detached and drained, as the Source lifted his daughter high into the cavern. Leira hung above them, suspended by pure energy, as he and Dale continued to use the Source’s own energy to replenish his daughter’s. Without warning, the Source released Leira. She plummeted to the floor. He had watched, as though in slow motion, as her head struck a rock and the light in her eyes dimmed.
The Source burned out leaving them in total darkness.
