Chapter 20 – Time Apart

Giselle woke up the next day to a very strong breeze in her room. She wondered why exactly her window was open. She glanced around the room to see it was completely empty.

Well, she thought it was empty. Isaac sat at the window sill.

And she wondered for a moment how he got into her room. She questioned it for a moment but then remembered about his power on campus. He stared out the window without saying a word, his face completely nonchalant.

She knew that he knew about the day prior and all the events that took place. How could he be upset? She wasn't sure.

The silence thickened and she wondered for a moment if he'd even say anything. The window continued to blow air into the room. There was sunlight. He glanced at her but didn't say a word. For a moment she thought she saw pain in his eyes. A pain that she could not understand.

"Who let you in?" Giselle muttered.

"The guards." Isaac replied. "The guards in front of your door."

Giselle nodded slowly. "I have guards in front of my door now?"

Isaac nodded slowly.

"Where's Jasmine?"

"With Nathan."

Giselle nodded.

The was a silence in the room. He wondered for a while if Giselle knew what he was about to say. The thickness in the air had to be noticed. The words that weren't being said had to mean something. Didn't it? He had realized a lot in a matter of one night. He realized that no matter how hard he tried, Giselle would never be able to be controlled. That bothered him. But what bothered him more, was how much she truly didn't need him. He wasn't sure if it was insecurity or jealousy.

He wasn't sure if it was his heart or his mind. And, so, he sat there and stared out the window for a while, wondering how to put how he felt into fruition. He couldn't.

"What brought you here?"

He didn't say anything. Giselle watched him for a while and realized he wasn't going to. She got up from her bed in her pajamas and sat beside him. His face remained composed, and the words he was about to say next, were going to shock her even more.

"I think we need space, and time apart."

Giselle stared at him for a while. "Space?"

He nodded. "Space."

"We aren't in a relationship Isaac. How much space could you possibly need?"

There was silence again, this time, it was louder than it needed to be. Giselle watched him for a while, waiting for a response. He still didn't say a word.

"You don't trust me." He muttered. "After everything, you still continuously choose to disobey me."

"No, I think it's the opposite." She replied. "You don't trust me."
