Chapter 14 – Permission and Shopping Arrangements

The stepping stones of Antarctica have fallen in, pulling him down into icy water beneath him. The coolness of it all made him feel welcomed, like it was a home away from home. His breath was being held in between his lungs ready to burst as he forced them to relax. The warm feeling as the ice water circled his skin, cold veins enjoying the adrenaline pumping through him. He felt his small body swimming deeper, the little experience he had reminding him that mother was watching. Shutting his eyes over and over, hoping to see her, until finally his ten year old mind forced her face to appear.

Panting Isaac woke up; the nightmare that usually popped into his dreams hadn’t surprised him. Annoyed and pushing the dizzy feeling over whelming him aside, he wiped the sweat on his forehead and hopped out his king sized bed in his one bedded dorm.

To him it was such little luxuries for having the Professor as your mentor.

Isaac threw on a white button up shirt, leaving the top button open. He glanced at his long mirror once his dark black jeans were on. His reserved face showing no emotion, as he liked it to be and as he was taught by his mother.

Your biggest weakness, She whispered to him as a child. Is letting people catch you off guard.

He threw on his black sweater while glancing out the window. This feeling was well known to him, the beginning of wintery air making its way through his quiet room. Another Friday filled with class work and errands. Still, it was his favorite time of year, the time in November when tree leaves fall. How badly he longed for Christmas to come, so he could watch the snow fall reminding himself that if he was powerful enough, he’d be able to make it snow.

A knock he had been ready for echoed through his room. In a swift motion he walked over opening the door to reveal the Professor standing there grinning. Isaac stepped aside. The professor nodded and allowed himself in glancing around the room.

The walls were an off blue, almost white.  The marble floor swirling under their feet looking very antique like while the white dresser lay at the corner of the room with his mirror right beside it. The professor knew why both windows were open; Isaac had always enjoyed the cold.

“How are you this fine morning?” The professor asked while leaning against the wall confidently. “I must say, I love what you’ve done with the place.”

“I’m fine.” Isaac replied. “What might you be getting yourself into, Professor?”

“The usual, phone calls with the queen and the council, keeping things in order here at the academy and anything of that sort.” Professor Cornelius responded.

“Have they come to a decision about Vincent?”

“Yes.” Professor Cornelius said with a sigh. “He’s going to hate the prison of Zeptoria.”

“Still, what he’s done that is so dreadful remains unknown to me.”

“And it shall stay that way, Isaac.” said Professor Cornelius. “I’ve got some mail for you to deliver and I’d like you to talk with Ms. – Um, Dianne, about how the academy will be doing in a couple months, I must keep up with my usual research.”
