3rd Person

Percy sat down miserably on his bed, he had sat there as the hunters and Artemis unhooked Landon and Mary from the medical equipment, there were so many injured troops that they needed all available equipment as soon as possible, which meant that they had no time to pay respects to the dead.

The ship captain was a part of the crew that hadn't fought (most of the technicians and engineers and stuff were below deck) and had already started to speed into the port in Europe. They needed more supplies, medical attention, and more manpower if they were going to get back to Anpathio.

As he was finally drifting off, he heard a click as his door swung open.

Artemis somberly came over and sat next to him in the bed, it wasn't a very large bed so she cuddled up next to him.

Who knew Artemis liked to cuddle?

She just sat there for a bit, listening to his heartbeat, while Percy ran his hands through her hair.

After a while, Artemis broke the silence, "Percy...when you were fighting Chrysaor, I overhead he says something...after the wave, he had said you were cut off from the sea...what did he mean by that?"

"Well...it is what it sounds like...I can't access my power to the sea, no breathing under-water, no water powers, I can't even talk with horses without Darius, any sea-related power I once had is gone"

"But how?! That shouldn't be possible, you're literally the child of the embodiment of the ocean! And your cells have been immortalized and filled with divine power! It should be impossible to alter your powers!"

"Usually yes...but not for a primordial"

"Oh...no, Percy not him...you've been through so much..."

"When I was in Tartarus, Tartarus would dif through my mind, searching for the crimson spark. Instead, he found my divine source, the area where all immortal's genetic powers as well as their memories are kept, it's in a different place for everyone, so it's hard to find.

But Tartarus found mine...he slowly began to cut the link, first psychologically, playing off my fear of drowning, making me hate the water, then physically, using his powers to literally severe my divine source.

In doing so he tortured me with my own memories as well, all my good memories ended horribly, and all my bad ones got worse...it took my years just to get my head on straight, and figure out which memories were real, and which were...not"

"I'm so sorry Percy"

"It's okay, I'll always feel a bit empty, like a part of me is missing, but you help me feel whole, and that makes it better."

They fell asleep in each other's arms that night.

---

A few days later they were back in Percy's room, preparing to get off the ship, they had finished their mission and were approaching Anpathio city.

"Artemis?"

"Yes?"

"Have you seen my helmet...I need it for our re-entry"

"Oh yes I actually wanted to talk about that"

"What's up?"

"Remember a few days ago? When I said I was a bit weaker than normal?"
