You were just finishing the last of your clothes, moving all the now filled boxes into the living room before you looked around, seeing the place spotless. Everything was the same as it was when you had moved in, the only difference was the scent of you filling the air which you had grown used to.

It wasn't a bad place to live, it really wasn't, it was nothing like you replace back in Sydney but it became your home for the time you had spent here. Most memories being bad but the nights where you, Yelena and Kate would hang out, talking about everything and nothing whilst binging Friends on behalf of Yelena's request was something you were going to cherish.

You had settled on England, booking the ticket for Sunday morning, two days from now to give you time to quit your job exactly like you did in Australia. Your life was like a merry-go-round, the highs and lows coming and going with each passing minute. It was stressful and that's why you needed a new start, once again.

You made some mac and cheese for yourself, moving your way around the boxes that covered the floor. It was going to be a lot to take on a plane but it was easy to come by when you weren't the one who had to load everything onto the plane.

Having your phone silenced, you were able to finally relax, not having any interruptions or distractions as you finished the episode that Yelena put on all those weeks ago. You weren't going to, not wanting to remember anything of her and more so Kate but it felt like the right thing to do at the moment.

A knock on the door made you pause the episode, hoping whoever it was, most likely Jacob as he said he would stop by sometime tonight, leave thinking you weren't home yet.

Truth was, Jacob was a good friend but you could really use some alone time right now and he didn't know about you leaving and your apartment had those words painted on each wall, each box that laid on the floor ready to leave.

"I know you're in there." Their voice was quiet, almost desperate. You knew it was the wrong thing to answer but with how the two of you were with each other, you couldn't ignore the feeling more than you were now.

Standing up, placing your mac and cheese on the table in front of you, you made your way over to the door. Your hand grasping the handle, begging yourself to let it go and walk away to your room, but you couldn't.

Turning the knob after unlocking the door, it opened slowly, your gaze on the floor not ready to look up.

The door was open but not wide enough to see inside the rest of your apartment yet as you stood there, hesitant to let them see the inside.

"I came by earlier and I. . ." She trailed off, rocking on her feet nervously, "you weren't in." She shrugged her shoulders, offering you a weak smile in some way.

"I was at work." You said, meeting her gaze.

"I figured," you nodded, not knowing what else to say, "can I.." she gestured past you and you stared blankly at her, "come in?"

Without another word, you slowly pushed the door open to let her see the inside, welcoming her in after her request.

She was silent for a moment, standing by your door as she looked around in question, "y- you're leaving?"

"Sunday. England." The atmosphere was filled with pure awkwardness, she slowly came in looking around at all the boxes whilst she refused to meet your gaze. "Why are you here Kate?" Your tone was anything but demanding, to her it sounded hurt with how quiet your words came out and she couldn't help but feel the sting in her heart.

"I just," she watched you, hoping to see anything but anger and when she saw what she wanted she continued, "I missed you." Her voice was as quiet as yours was and you knew if you weren't to say something in that second she would regret saying it and try to cover it up with a rant.

"Before or after you almost killed me?" You questioned, arching a brow with the words and her mouth opened, wanting to say something, anything, but no words left her mouth and you nodded knowingly. "That's what I thought." You told her and grabbed the pot of mac and cheese from the table before taking it over to the kitchen, throwing the empty pot into the trash.

By the little noise she was making, anyone could think she left but that thought was soon thrown out when she walked over to you. Her steps were light but certain.

You turned to face her, ready to ask what she wanted but you stopped yourself when she wrapped her arms around your neck, holding you tightly against her. You didn't react right away but she buried her face onto your shoulder and you could help but hug her back like she did you. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry Y/n." You knew she was genuine by the sniffle that was followed by her apology. "I shouldn't have- I didn't mean to, I-" a quiet sob cut her off and you didn't speak, only hugged her a little tighter, "I'm sorry."

"You can stop apologizing," you told her with a quiet chuckle, "I already forgave you a long time ago." No matter how many times you told yourself you wouldn't, you couldn't help it when it came to her because you knew that she was all you wanted.

"You can't leave." She whispered into you, letting her tears flow freely now and when she said it you knew you wanted this, here, and her. But you don't always get what you want.

"I have to," you told her quietly and you felt her shake her head against you, neither of you wanting to pull away from the hug.

"Please stay." Her voice was weak, wanting anything of an agreement from you but everything was done, the ticket, the packing, even a hotel in advance. Everything was final.

"Come on," you said, pulling away from the hug just enough to face her, "let's go sit down and we'll talk about it later." She nodded at that, happy that there was still the possibility of you staying before you both went to sit down.
