As Alec and I strolled through the charming streets of Idris, snacking on some delectable treats from a local vendor, the warm sun casting a golden glow over everything, a mischievous glint sparkled in my eyes.

"Ah, Alec, it's moments like these that make me appreciate the simple pleasures in life," I remarked, taking a bite of a freshly baked pastry. I closed my eyes enjoying the warm up treat.

Alec raised an eyebrow, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "Oh, really? The same girl who lives in a grand mansion, surrounded by opulence and abundance?"

I shrugged, feigning nonchalance. "Well, what can I say? I'm a contradiction wrapped in mystery. Besides, it's entertaining to see the envious looks from those men over there," I gestured discreetly to a group of admirers casting longing gazes our way.

Alec chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You do have a talent for stirring up chaos, don't you?"

"Hey, it's not my fault they think being with me automatically grants them access to untold riches," I quipped, a mischievous twinkle in my eye.

"I am not some lottery ticket they can buy" I say while taking an aggressive bite of my pastry that alec might've bought for me.

"Of course not" Alec says amused.

We continued our leisurely stroll, enjoying the sights and sounds of the bustling town. The casual banter flowed effortlessly between us, a playful dance of teasing and laughter.

Alec glanced at me, a soft smile playing on his lips. "You know, Alice, sometimes I find it amusing how someone who claims to love the simple life has all this at her disposal."

I paused for a moment, letting his words sink in, before bursting into laughter. "You got me there, Alec. I guess I can't escape the irony of it all. But you know what they say, life is full of surprises."

"And you, are the biggest surprise of them all," he replied, his voice laced with warmth and fondness.

"Did you just call me Fat?" I retort to his comment. He shakes his head at the words.

"You're so crazy" he says laughing.

I grinned, feeling the thrill of adventure pulsing through my veins. "That's me, the outta pocket wildcard."

Alec's laughter mingled with mine, creating a symphony of joy that echoed through the streets of Idris. In that moment, surrounded by the beauty of the city and the company of a man who saw past the surface, I couldn't help but be grateful for the unexpected twists and turns that life had thrown my way.

Together, we continued our exploration of Idris, savoring the simple pleasures, and relishing in the shared moments of laughter and connection. As the sun began to set, casting a vibrant tapestry of colors across the sky, I knew deep in my heart that this was just the beginning of an extraordinary adventure.

"How's the institute?" I ask curious.

"It's fine, It's all a bunch of stuff on paper" he says.

"Well, that sucks" I say sarcastically. He looks over at me and chuckles.

"Alright I get it. It's not exactly horrible but I thought with being the head I'd get more action" he replies.

I smirk "what kind of action we talking?"

"Not the good kind" he replies blowing off my joke. I grab his hand and look towards the beautiful lake.

"Well, if you're looking for action. I know just the type" I say while smiling. I swiftly moved toward Lake Lynn, a mischievous glint in my eyes. Alec looked at me curiously, clearly unsure of what I was up to.

"Wait, Alice, what are you..." he began, but before he could finish his sentence, I took hold of his hand and pulled him along with me into the refreshing waters of the lake.

Alec let out a surprised yelp as he stumbled forward, his balance momentarily lost. The cool water engulfed us both, drenching our clothes and sending ripples across the surface of the lake.

"What the hell, Alice?!" Alec exclaimed, his voice a mixture of shock and amusement.

I couldn't help but burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the air. "Consider it a spontaneous action to break the monotony, Alec. You wanted action, right?"

"We're soaked" he point out. He grabs my waist pulling me toward him since I'm not able to reach the bottom.

"Technically we're soaked until we hit land" I point out.

Alec's grip on my waist tightened as he pulled me closer to him, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes. "Well, if we're going to be technically soaked until we hit land, then I guess we should just stay in the water forever," he quipped, his voice laced with amusement.

I playfully splashed water in his face, grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Oh, so you're suggesting we become permanent residents of Lake Lynn? I hope you're ready to fight off the fish and grow gills, Lightwood."

He chuckled, his deep laughter resonating in the air. "I think I'll pass on the fish-fighting, but I wouldn't mind growing gills if it means spending more time with you in this gorgeous, drenched state."

I rolled my eyes, feigning exasperation. "Oh, so now you're just trying to butter me up with your watery compliments, huh? Nice try, but I see right through your tactics."

Alec's lips curved into a playful smirk. "Well, I'll have you know that I've been working on my water-related pick-up lines just for this occasion. 'Are you a beaver? Because daaaaam!'"

I burst into laughter, unable to contain myself. "Alec, that was both terrible and amazing at the same time. Bravo!"

We continued our banter, the playful exchanges bouncing back and forth like the gentle waves in the lake. There was a sense of freedom in these moments, as if the water had washed away the barriers between us, allowing our true selves to emerge.

In that unspoken understanding, we knew that while we may not be officially dating, there was a growing connection between us. A spark that ignited with each witty remark, every shared laughter, and the genuine enjoyment we found in each other's company.

As the sun began to set, casting a golden hue over the water, we reluctantly made our way back to the shore. Our clothes clung to our bodies, our hair dripping with water, but the smiles on our faces were uncontainable.

"Well, Alice, it looks like we survived our impromptu swimming session," Alec remarked, reaching out to brush a stray lock of hair behind my ear.

I grinned, my heart pounding with a mix of excitement and anticipation. "Slay, Served and Survived, I'd say. Who knew getting soaked in Lake Lynn could be so much fun?"

Alec's gaze held mine, his eyes filled with an intensity that sent shivers down my spine. "I'm beginning to realize that with you, Alice, even the simplest moments become extraordinary."

"You want me so bad" I say teasing him. He smirks and lands a cute peck on my wet cheek.

"Sure do" he replies with a grin.
