I had made it to the Lakers game that my dad and I had planned to go to since like forever ago.
My dad was a big fan of basketball which is one of the reasons why he knew who Kate was.
We were watching, but clearly my dad was in fact the only one who was actually focused intently on the game.
My mind was on Kate.
As much as I told myself that I was done watching basketball and it was so annoying after going to so many games, I think I was just flat out lying and gaslighting myself.
I mean this game was definitely fun to watch but not as fun as it was watching Kate play.
I had gotten so used to it and I had turned into her biggest fan.
The Lakers were in the lead and I cheered, wishing it was Kate who I was cheering for. I missed her already and it had been like 2 days.
During halftime my dad turned to me, "What's on your mind, kid?" He asked.
"Kate." I said.
