*** Marie's POV ***
Thursday night, June 24, 1957

It was after dinner; Judy and I were washing dishes when suddenly the telephone rings. To my surprise, it was Elvis.

"Hey girly," Elvis exclaimed.

"What do you want?" I said smirking. I could hear laughter at his end.

"I just wanted to hear the beautiful sultry sound of your voice, girly. " He jokingly said between chuckles.

I joined in on the laughter since I was clueless of what to say. Then I hear him clear his throat; I stay silent waiting for his voice.

"I... I was just wonderin' ya know... since I- I really like ya and all... if you're willing to come and meet my parents?"

My eyes widen. Judy sees my face and laughs.

"Ofcourse Elvis... I'd be honored." I finally said.

I felt like I could hear him smiling.

"Well alrighty, gorgeous. I can't wait for ya to meet them! Especially my momma! I'll pick ya up early- say, four?"

I could hear it in his tone, he was elated. He said everything so quickly too.

"Ofcourse E." I said smiling.

He breathed out a sigh of relief-probably, then said,

"See you soon then, beautiful. I'll count the minutes until I finally see your lovely face."

I couldn't help but laugh at his cheesy mocking voice.

"I hope you can count past ten then."

All I can hear is a loud howl from E's end, leaving Judy surprised. I smile small as I wait until he catches his breath.

"Four it is then, girly."

"Goodnight, E."

"Sleep tight, Marie."

The butterflies came back with the cliché. Judy looked at me with anticipating eyes. I hang up the phone and look at her.

"You're such a tease!"

Shocked, I looked at her confused.

"I'm just- just- what?!" I laugh walking to my room. Judy follows me waiting for the gossip on E and I.

"Come on then! What'd E call you for??"

She kept at her persistence. I decided to tell her and she flipped. She ended up staying up late with me searching for the perfect outfit to wear for E and his parents.

~

It was 11:10 pm when we finally decided on an outfit; a knee length vanilla full skirt with a floral pastel peach long sleeve blouse and nude kitten heels to match. I opted for nude flats but ofcourse, I got a stern talking to about how women need to look like fine, classy women all the time. As soon as I get ready tomorrow, I'm ditching the heels for some good ol' flats.

Soon after Judy left my room, I couldn't help but knock out.

Friday June 25, 1957

My second Friday in the fifties and it's a big day. I still couldn't believe I'll be meeting E's parents, in the flesh. I got out of bed as of it were any other day to join the Tylersons' for breakfast. I shower and brush my teeth, I dress in a casual blue dress with black flats.

I was on time to help Judy set the table. Russel and Robert soon joined us. We ate and chatted. Once Robert left, Judy started a new topic, my date.

"So you're ready to meet his ma and pa?" She asks with an excited expression. I laugh getting up from the table beginning to clean up and trying to avoid her question.
