I guess he wasn't bad after all

Louis' POV

I got out of AP World History and came to the drama club. I entered the auditorium and breathed in that same old smell. Mr Chilton used to smoke in here, and the smell of smoke never went away. I walked up the stairs to the stage and stared at all the empty seats. I got into the whole drama things because of my dad. He had to drag me to the auditions. The day I auditioned, I was surprised. I never really sang, but I would sing snippets of songs I liked. Mr Chilton said I had a great voice and that's what got me the role of Danny in our school play of Grease, my all-time favourite film.

I remembered standing here and being the happiest I've ever been.

Now, it's just a sad, horrible memory.

Flashback

I was playing with the twins. Daisy was busy filling her water gun when Phoebe sprayed her back.

"Pheebs!" She yelled, and Phoebe ran off, laughing.

"You're going to pay for that!" Daisy yelled and ran after Phoebe.

I laughed at their little chase, and they eventually stopped. When they did, they grinned at each other, then attacked me. They tickled me and sprayed me with cold water. We were laughing, and we were having fun.

Then the phone rang, and it was obvious no one was going to get it.

"Girls! I have to get the phone!" I yelled, and they stopped. They crawled off me, and I got up.

"We're not done."

I shook my hair, getting them wet as well. I laughed and answered the phone.

"Hello?" I asked, still smiling because the twins started fighting again.

"This is officer Palmer from the Doncaster police department. Is Mrs Tomlinson available?"

My smile dropped. "No, my mum isn't here. My mum is supposed to be here in a little bit. I'm her son, Louis.

"Mr Tomlinson. This afternoon, your father was found dead. I'm very sorry."

My whole world stopped. Everything seemed to get quieter. The twins' laughter grew quiet in my ears. I hadn't realised tears were already pouring down until one fell on my chest.

"We can't say anything yet. We need you to come to the police station." They stopped and sighed. "We need you to ID the body."

"ID the..." I couldn't finish my sentence because the phone slipped out of my hands and fell to the floor.

I fell to my knees and started bawling. The twins rushed towards me. Fizzy and Lottie came down to see what was happening. They dropped to the floor and asked me what was wrong. I couldn't say anything.

Then mum came in and saw us.

"What happened?" She asked concern etched in her tone. I got up and ran to her, hugging her, making her drop the bags she was carrying.

I choked out a sob. "It's dad."

She tensed up and her face contorted into fear as if she knew what I was about to say but was scared of the answer. "What about your dad?"

"He's dead."

End Of Flashback

After that, I quit the drama club and became more reserved, and I didn't talk to anyone anymore.

"Shit!" I whispered and ran out of the auditorium when the bell rung, signalling that I was late. I ran to Chemistry as fast as I could. I slammed the door open, and everyone looked at me, causing me to blush a little.
