Jayla's POV

My voice has been hoarse for a few days now, I'm starting to get extremely worried, the semi finals is in a few days and I need my voice to be in mint condition for us to get passed the round. There's only four contestants left. We're the only group left two contestants are from the over-25 group and the other is from the boys group. I hope we make it to the finale and I also can't help hope that we won or at-least get second place.

I went to the doctors and they told me I didn't have strep throat which makes fee an ounce better. But there is something around with my throat and my voice and I'm getting really nervous. I'm seeing a doctor who specialIzes in vocal cords today and I'm extremely scared.

"Hello I'm Dr Montgomery." The doctor says sticking out her hand I take it.

"Hi, I'm Jayla Cowell." I say shaking her hand.

"I know my daughter is a fan of your. She really wants you to win." The doctor says smiling, she leads me to a room and I sat on the table thing and paper making noises as I sit.

"Open your mouth and say 'ahh.' I do and she puts a stick on my tongue and peers into my mouth and down my throat. I see her eyes widen and she takes the stick out of my mouth,

"Jayla I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but what I can tell you have vocal fold hemorrhage." She says.

"What does that mean?" I ask my voice starting to shake.

"It means that a collection of blood within the vocal fold that occurs after rupture of a blood vessel. Vocal fold hemorrhage, even with a small amount of blood, weighs down the vocal fold causing voice changes. It other words it means that you need to go through vocal rest, if you continue to use your voice then it may occur in permanent scarring and potentially causing irreversible vocal fold scar. Which can ruin your vocal cords and change your voice for the worse or you msg loose your voice forever." She says.

"How long will I have to go though vocal rest?" I ask.

"For a week and a half." She says.

"But I'll miss the semi-finals." I say.

"Do you want to lose your voice forever?" She asks. I shake my head.

"Ok we can start today I'll be right back I need to get your medicine, it'll help your throat heal." She says. "No talking."

"Ok from now on don't talk, hear I'll give you this to communicate." She hands me a white broad and marker.

I write. THANK YOU. On it . (When she writes on the white board it with be capitalized.)

She laughs, "Your welcome." I catch a cab back to my apartment I shared with the boys.

When I closed the door I hear Ashton call out. "Jay is that you?" I don't answer because frankly I can't so I just come into the living room.

Hey Jay where you been?" Jude asks. I hold up my finger meaning one minute.

I WENT TO THE DOCTORS I write and show it to them.

"Why? And why are you speaking using that white board?" Sky asks

I HAVE VOCAL FOLD HEMORRHAGE I CANT USE MY VOICE FOR A WEEK AND A HALF

"What?" Ash asks.

"How'd you get that?" Jude asks his his eyes widening.

IT HAPPENS SOMETIMES WHEN SOMEONE SINGS TO MUCH AND I'VE BEEN USING IT WHILE MY VOICE WAS HOARSE SO THAT'S AN ADD ON.

"How are we going to perform on Friday when you can't use your voice?" Sky asks.

I HAVE NO IDEA. ILL HAVE TO TALK TO MY DAD ABOUT THAT.

"Here I'll Call him and we can put it on speaker and you write and I'll.... Translate." Ashton says

THAT'LL WORK. He calls my dad and out put it on speakers so that I could hear as well.

"Hello." Dad says when his answers.

"Hi Mr. Cowell Jayla wants to talk to you." He says.

"Ok put her on the phone then."

"I can't really do that. You see she went to the doctor and she has vocal fold hemorrhage which means her vocal cords are scratched and she can't speak for a week and a half."

"Really? Not really that surprised that that happened. Jayla is always singing when she's sick and she's had a sore throat for the past two weeks." He says.

"Well she wants to talk to you, I'll be translating for her."

"Ok go ahead." Dad says

X FACTOR IS THIS WEEK AND ITS SEMI FINALS HOW CAN I PERFORM WHEN I CANT SPEAK/ OR SING?

"She says that X Factor is on Friday and it's the semi finals how can she perform when she can't speak or sing?" He says.

"That's a good question. Umm you can just mouth the words when the group sings during the chorus's or you can do something in the back, that may ore not be apart of the song. Jayla you took ballet classes for two years." I role my eyes. I sucked at ballet.

I SUCK AT BALLET THAT'S WHY I QUIT, I CAN DO HIP HOP OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

"She says she sucks at ballet and that she can do hip hop or something similar to it." Ashton says.

"Well we can make that work." Dad says.

"Ok. We'll practice that and come up with a song that she can dance to." Ashton says

I quickly scribble onto My white board. I LOVE YOU DAD, ILL TALK TO YOU LATER.

Ashton translates this and hangs up.

Sorry it's soo short. Please at least five comments to continue

Thanks, Rian
