i was so uncomfortable.

it didn't make sense because we had been girlfriend and boyfriend for a year

i should've been comfortable
but i wasn't
i guess it's true that first dates are always awkward

you had just turned 16
and you were so handsome
you are still so handsome

it was actually my first official date ever

19 years old...
kind of embarrassing

i mean, its not like I didn't try to date
but the only other canadate
never showed

i watched that movie with my brother instead
it was a terrible movie
i don't even remember what it was called
i was 16

i'm glad you showed
you picked me up in your black monte carlo
i know its still your car now
but maybe when were old and we've owned like 7 different cars
you'll want to remember

it was like magic

funny how much waiting
we endured
for you to turn 16

we sat at the bar at applebees
and you wore a nice shirt just for me
because you knew i was going to dress up

because it was our first date
and we waited a year for it

we ordered a 2 for 20.00 deal
and you scooted your stool closer to me
and every nervous glance
every stumbled word
every shy smile
was worth it
