Jemma's POV.

"Hello," I said into the phone, finally putting a full stop on my two paged essay.

"Do you want to follow me go see my dad?" He asked, his voice calm.

"Sure, I just finished my homework anyways," I said spinning around on my chair. "I'll come pick you up?"

"Okay," he hung up.

It's been a week since Uncle Williams accident and Devin hasn't really been taking it easily. I decided to give him a few days to cool off and he really needed it. Uncle Williams has been in a coma since and we are not really sure of when he'll wake up.

Standing up, I grabbed my purse and walked downstairs. As as I was about to pick up my keys from the table a voice stopped me.

"Where are you going?" Jasper asked.

"To go see Mr Bates at the hospital," I told him, "you wanna come?"

"No, still got some homework to do," he started walking away but he turned back around, "don't you think it's a little late for that, you can go see him tomorrow after school."

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, "it's not too late it's just-" I paused to check the time on my watch, "7'0clock. I'll soon be back."

"I'll just come with you. I'll drive, homework can wait," he grabbed his keys before walking out.

"Okay, save me the gas," I whispered to myself before following him. "I'm supposed to pick Devin first though" I spoke up this time so he could hear me.

"Okay then," he unlocked his car and we both got in.

When we got to Devin's house he was shocked to see Jasper in the car, driving for that matter.

"Hey Jemma, Jasper," he made himself comfortable.

"Hey, how you holding up?" I turned around to look at him.

"Well, getting used to his absence," his voice went lower.

"I told you I can come stay with you till he wakes up you know," I hit his arm playfully.

"Ouch. And I said its fine, he'll probably soon wake up anyways," he said with hope in his voice.

"Well let's hope for that," I turned back around to face the front.

The rest of the ride was awfully quiet except for the soft music playing on the radio. Ever since the accident and when Jasper took me to that ice cream booth, things had been really weird between us. The only words that were exchanged between us were 'good morning' and 'good night'. Sometimes I caught him staring in class and at home especially during dinner. Well at least he talked to me today.

When we got to the hospital Jasper decided to stay in the car since he wasn't really a fan of hospitals, well nobody is.

Mr Bates was lying on the bed, looking lifeless and the room was entirely quiet only the sound of the machines were heard.

"Hey Dad," Devin said sitting beside the bed. "JJ came with me today," he gestured for me to come closer.

"Hello Uncle William, it's me JJ," I sniffed trying to hold back my tears, "please get well soon."

It was so uneasy seeing him this way. He was like a father to me, the father I never had.

Devin held my hand in a comforting manner and I looked at him, "he'll be fine." I reassured him and he nodded, pulling me into his arms.

We stayed like that for a while till I finally pulled away.

"Thanks JJ, a lot," he pushed a small smile  through his lips.
