Ember POV:

The world tilted, as I glided through an empty corridor. At first I was hit with a flash of colour yet rapidly the darkness emerged, devouring everything like a savage predator.

I was alone and confused. I yelled for Kai yet he was nowhere to be seen. My body trembled as I walked blindly ahead of me.

It was as if my body knew where to go as with each step, torches illuminated doors that were pressed along the side of the corridor.

The doors had two torches whispering a white glow, guarding its side. Every time I took a step forward, two more doors were revealed. Both of them siding along the white corridor.

One was on the right of me and the other was on the left. As far as I could see, the amount of doors were infinite and each of them were like exact copies.

After minutes of excuses that swam beneath my cold exterior, I finally masked the courage to open a door. My hands shook as I touched the cold handle.

Standing face to face, it's features became more prominent. They were perfectly chiselled from pure quarts. The handle (although frozen) was outstanding. The elegant diamonds were plastered all over the rear and it was here, for a slight second, where I thought I was staring directly into the glistening moon.
-------------
I pulled the cool door open. Through it, a familiar forest awaited. I turned back to the mysterious corridor, yet the door had vanished and I found myself, surrounded by wispy trees.
For like the seventh bloody time. The trees though looked fresher and greener. Younger if possible.

Suddenly I heard a whispering and the sound bounced from one tree to another.

While the trees mocked me, I scanned the area yet I couldn't find the source. The more anxious I became, the more the whispering intensified and the more the words became clearer.

"Murder."

Confused; I trudged towards the largest tree that I could see. It was only slightly bigger than the other trees yet it towered over me and my feeble body.

"Murder." I heard again.

"What murder?" I regrettably asked.

It felt quite stupid, staring into a blank tree, like it was actually talking. As the silence stretched, I wondered if I had imagined it. If I had finally gone crazy.

However, while I slowly turned away, I heard a crack.
A face had materialised from the rough wood.
It camouflaged and resembled a very old, wooden essence.
I was contemplating running away, yet I hesitantly backed away a few step.

"What murder!" I said more sharply, as I slightly adjusted my demeanour.

The tree looked curious. It's chartreuse pupil-less eyes, looked me up and down.

"I suppose you're wondering who I am. Aren't you?" Hissed the Tree, as a smile slowly awoke from its ancient face.

"You're a tree." Said I, looking amused. After all it was just a tree. A talking tree.

Unfortunately the Tree didn't find me so humorous. The smile had so swiftly vanished into a giant antique frown, while its eyes had scowled.

"A tree. Do I look like a paper infested object that are obedient to roaches such as humans?"
The Tree had risen. The green leaves that coveted the top of its bark-like head had morphed into a fiery red. It looked furious

"I didn't mean-"
It had cut me off, this time yelling quite loud like an angry elderly.

"It is my kind that provides oxygen to you mortals. My kind, who's energy protects you and the castle. If I'm just a tree, why don't I just-"
