Gut Feelings (Varian x Witch!Reader)

Protect Her

We laid there for what felt like only a few minutes when I started to hear some sort of snarling coming from the woods behind us. I sat up and stared in the direction it was coming from. "Did you hear that sapphires?" I asked now standing up. "Hear what?" He said getting up as well. I was about to respond when there was more snarling. Varian started to inch closer to the bushes when suddenly an entire army of Üülauts popped out.

I quickly pushed Varian behind me and a yellow mist started pouting from my hands and surrounding us. My entire body felt like it was on fire. Through the mist we were able to see the Üümlauts trying to trample us. There were thousands maybe even millions of them. The mist created a see through yellow tinted protection bubble. I kept my hands raised. The Üümlaut ran right over the protection forcing me down with their weight making it harder to keep in place.

One of my arms faltered from its position and the sphere around us faltered as well. My body felt like it was slowly being crushed. The pain was even worse than before. It went up my arms, up and down my back, around my neck making it hard to breathe, and even down my legs. "AHH!" I screamed as I fell onto my knees, but kept my arms raised. 'Just keep it up a little longer! I have to keep him safe!'

"(Y/n!)" I heard Varian scream but it was quite muffled. My ears started ringing and I could feel something fall from my eyes and my nose. Varian now moved in front of me only to look up into the distance. My eyes started to roll back into my head. 'No! Fight it! Don't let them roll back! No one knows what will happen if I do! I could hurt him! I can't lose do this again! Keep the barrier up!'

I watched as Varian glanced between me and something else. It looked like he was saying something but I can't hear a thing. My eyes started twitching from trying to not let them roll back. 'It's too much! But I have to keep him safe!!! I just have to last until they're all gone!' Suddenly Varian shoved one of my arms down causing me to scream again. "NO!" The barrier was broken and the Üümlaut surrounded us. I was then picked up and next thing I knew we were in the air. Varian pulled me into his chest and he hit the ground with me on top of him.

I groaned as I looked up at him. My vision was blurry. There was what seemed to be red mist clouding my vision and I could barely see a thing. He was mouthing something, but there was only ringing. There was someone in front of me. 'W-why do they look like?' They were dabbing under my eyes as their other hand was pinched on my nose. 'It's going to be okay! You protected Varian! That's what matters. The pain doesn't matter. Only protecting them.' Their mouth continued to move and everything sounded muffled. I felt my head start to fall forward only to have a hand placed on my forehead and waist keeping me sitting up. I yelped from the pain and their grip loosened some. I could only stare up at this person and that's when it hit me. 'I-it's them.' With my vision clouded I could still make out something sickly familiar to me. 'It's his fault that she's gone. You just wanted to protect her.' A voice said in the back of my mind.

I shook my head violently trying to get the hands off of me. I was only met with even more pain. "Don't touch her!" I screamed as I threw my arms around trying to get away. I was able to get the hands off of me. I stood up and my hands stared releasing a blood red mist. I was in a complete panic. My breathing was heavy, I had no idea what was around me, and I felt my eyes start to roll back. My feet lifted off the ground. The blood red mist surrounding me completely. It was weaving around me at a fast pace. 'No! Don't do this!' 'Protect him.' A calm voice said. 'I can do this! I just need more time!' 'Protect her.' The voice said again. 'Fight back! Don't listen to them! I'll lose control if I listen!' 'Make them pay for what they did to you.' 'Don't listen! They want me to give in! Don't do it! For the sake of everyone! I don't want to lose everything again! I can't!' 'Make them suffer. Take away all that's precious to them. Protect her at all costs!' The voice said getting louder and louder. 'He's the reason why your mother is gone! He's the one that suggested the fire! The people all went against you and your mother! It's your chance to make them pay for everything they've done! Show them why they never should have messed with the most powerful witch!' The voice said now screaming at the front of my mind.  "I will protect her at all costs!" My eyes were about to roll back completely when I felt hands covering mine. I saw a pair of gloved hands holding onto mine. One of them reached up to my cheek to stroke it softly.

They slowly started to pull me down to them, and I wanted to get out of their grip but I couldn't.  'Don't let him trick you! He'll betray you just like everyone else!' The unknown voice yelled. 'No listen to Varian! I trust him! He will always be there for me! And I will always be there for him! No matter what happens!' My body stopped responding. My eyes stopped fighting and I stared at beautiful sapphire blue eyes. The blood mist started turning into a soft blue. The ringing subsided and Varian was in front of me. He pulled me into a soft hug. I slowly and hesitantly hugged him back crying into his shoulder. All of the mist vanished as I started crying.

"It's okay! I'm right here. We're all safe. No one is hurt." Varian said as he held me close. I couldn't stop crying. "I-I'm sorry!" I squeezed onto him. "I didn't mean to!" I felt my knees give out but Varian caught me. "Pl-please don't leave me!" I said holding onto him like my life depended on it. "We know you didn't mean to. You didn't harm anyone. You just got a little mixed up. It's okay. We're all here. I'm right here. No ones going to hurt you. I promise." Varian kept whispering sweet nothings to me as I cried. He gently picked me up only to have me yell in pain. Varian simply put me back down on the ground.

"I'll stay here with you okay. Once I can move you without it hurting you I'll take you home okay?" I simply nodded and wiped my eyes. "I'll be right back okay?" I nodded again and tried to stop crying. He walked away and in front of me was Eugene, Lance, Rapunzel, Willow, Ariana, and the kind. I felt something near my hand and I pulled it back. I looked down and it was Sunny at my side.

He was staring at me with sad eyes and then rubbed against my leg. I hissed in pain and he backed up. I looked back up to see Varian coming back. "I-I'm so sorry Varian." I said wiping my eyes more. "I know you are. We all know you didn't mean for anything to happen. Can you not use magic for a little while for me? Or at least not use crazy spells? Only small ones. Just until we can figure out what's going on?" He asked with his big soft eyes staring at me. I nodded and went to wipe my eyes again but he stopped me.

He walked away again only to be handed some bandages and cloth  by Eugene and Lance. "Let me help you kid. We all know how you are with blood." Eugene said as he approached me with Varian. Eugene sat in front of me as Varian held my head up. "Let me know if I'm hurting you, okay kiddo?" Eugene said and I nodded slightly before wincing. They started with my nose. Varian held a handkerchief to my nose as Eugene continuously dabbed at my eyes.

"I'm going to need you to stop crying okay? I know what just happened is very scary and traumatic, but I need you to try and stop. You've already lost enough blood and we don't want you to lose more if we can help it." Eugene said softly and I nodded only to have Varian hold my head steady. I calmed down as much as I could and a tear would fall every couple of minutes. Eugene then started on my arms. He poured something onto it making it burn and I yelped. "It's just to clean them. We'll be done in no time okay?" He continued to bandage my arms and legs but they wouldn't let me look at anything except straight ahead.

"Are you feeling okay?" Varian asked softly. "I-I feel like I'm on fire." I said quietly. Eugene finished up rather quickly and then left once he made sure I was physically okay again. "C-can we go home?" I asked looking at Varian. "Yeah. Let's go home." I raised my arms slightly only to pull it back down. "Milady I know it'll take longer, but no magic for you okay? Eugene said that we could borrow Max to get home." He said while picking me up bridal style. "It's going to be a bit of a walk so go ahead and take a nap okay?" I nodded and snuggled into his chest soon falling asleep.
