In 2019, I had a nightmare about my dad and it lead to me writing this story. The nightmare almost plays out similar to how this story starts. Though unlike Charlie's Dad, my dad isn't as well...that.
After writing the first draft of the end scene, it felt quite cathartic due to the type of relationship my father and I have. The end scene made it feel like I had weight taken off my shoulders and it was the best feeling in the world.
