Well Ink purposely left himself behind to protect the multiverse, in case of any danger, cause who else is going to protect it?
And well the others? The portal closed shut right in front of Cross who of which was supposed to come as well along with the others but the portal didn't held up for long.. Others such as Dust and Insanity did want to come as well, mainly for the killing to which Ink didn't allow.
Nightmare tagged along cause he was interested on what another multiverse would look like and would like to see it with his two own eyes. Because of Nightmare tagging along, Dream also tagged along just to make sure his brother doesn't do anything bad.
Fresh just thought it was pretty rad to go in a different multiverse.
Swap was there to keep nightmare on a minimum with his happy go lucky attitude.
Horror? He was just dragged along by Nightmare.. He is the most easiest to handle among the murder time trio anyways so it's no surprise.

"That's most likely the case" Nightmare replied
"Uh, looks like the others didn't make it here. The portal didn't held up" Dream said as he pointed towards where the portal originally had been
"Guys, look around us it seems like were in a barren wasteland" Horror said
"At least there are buildings there!" Swap said as he pointed and walked towards it
"Horror, your head is bleeding. We should find bandages for you." Nightmare suggested
"Why Boss? It doesn't hurt at all." Horror said
"The people may freak out after seeing that you're skull is cracked and bleeding." Nightmare explained to Horror
"Well that's true" Dream said
