Percy and I had put the whole "family talk" behind us. He didn't mention my family at all, which I was grateful for.
I'd been up for a while now and it still wasn't daylight yet. I dress warm with my Hufflepuff scaf (house pride) and walked out into the snowy courtyard, no snow was falling but the ground was covered in it.

I laid down and made a snow-angel. Now just laying on the snow looking up at the sky. I grew bored and started singing.

"Mama said, "You're a pretty girl.
What's in your head, it doesn't matter
Brush your hair, fix your teeth.
What you wear is all that matters."

Just another stage, pageant the pain away
This time I'm gonna take the crown
Without falling down, down, down

Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever's worst
Perfection is a disease of a nation, pretty hurts, pretty hurts
Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever's worst
We try to fix something but you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery

(Uh huh huh)

Blonder hair, flat chest
TV says, "Bigger is better."
South beach, sugar free
Vogue says, "Thinner is better."

Just another stage, pageant the pain away
This time I'm gonna take the crown
Without falling down, down, down

Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever's worst
Perfection is a disease of a nation, pretty hurts, pretty hurts (pretty hurts)
Pretty hurts (pretty hurts), we shine the light on whatever's worst
We try to fix something but you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery

Ain't got no doctor or pill that can take the pain away
The pain's inside and nobody frees you from your body
It's the soul, it's the soul that needs surgery
It's my soul that needs surgery
Plastic smiles and denial can only take you so far
Then you break when the fake facade leaves you in the dark
You left with shattered mirrors and the shards of a beautiful girl

Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever's worst (pretty hurts)
Perfection is a disease of a nation, pretty hurts, pretty hurts
Pretty hurts, we shine the light on whatever's worst
We try to fix something but you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery

When you're alone all by yourself (pretty hurts, pretty hurts)
And you're lying in your bed (pretty hurts, pretty hurts)
Reflection stares right into you (pretty hurts, pretty hurts)
Are you happy with yourself? (pretty hurts, pretty hurts)

You stripped away the masquerade (pretty hurts, pretty hurts)
The illusion has been shed (pretty hurts, pretty hurts)
Are you happy with yourself? (pretty hurts, pretty hurts)
Are you happy with yourself? (pretty hurts, pretty hurts)" I exhaled and watched my breath drift off into the unknown.

PERCY'S P.O.V
I listened to Bailey sing. I sat in the window, or should I say hole, in the hallway and listened. It was very pretty and I listened to the words carefully trying to interpret how she felt. I was drawing blanks.

When she exhaled I finally understood what she was saying.
She doesn't think she's pretty..she wants to be someone else. As her best friend it was up to me to tell her she's beautiful.

I stood and walked over to her. I laid down starfish style waiting for her to acknowledge me.
"Good morning Percy"
"Good morning Bailey"
"You heard me singing didn't you?"
"Yes. It was very pretty"
"You listened to the lyrics, didn't you"
"Yes and I'd like to know why you feel that way"
"I'm not sure. I've pretty much always felt as if I wasn't good enough" Bailey shrugged against the snow.
"Well that's crazy. You're amazing just the way you are. Now stop with the negative thoughts and lets go stuff our faces" at that Bailey laughed and stood brushing snow off of her clothes and helping me up.
