Chapter 48

- Demi's POV

After almost an hour we had the first brake, the judges and I went back to back stage, we're talking about the contestants, who some of them were good and how there're so many disasters. After two minutes Sophie, Alex and Trevor came toward us, Alex came closer to me and I patted the spot by my side for her to sit. Sophie went straight to Simon and hugged him making everyone giggling because we all know how much he hates be hugged
"You did it on porpoise, didn't you?" He asked her giggling
"As always." She said in a childish voice
"You are just as brat as that other one." He said pointing to me and we giggled again
"I don't want to bother you." Soph said looking to the other three judges, "I just came to ask you if you're going to Angie's or not." Sophie asked Simon and he nodded
"I'll be there. Did you tell them?" He asked her and she nodded, "Okay." He said
"I'll go back to my sit now." Sophie said walking to me and pecking my lips quickly making me smile
"Lex do you want stay here with mom?" Soph asked referring about me and Alex looked at me as if she's asking for perdition which I gladly gave
"Yes." Alex said and Soph nodded smiling
"Trevor stay with Alex to walk her back to her sit later." Sophie said in an authority tone and he nodded, "Bye guys, see you later." Sophie said and all the judges waved, she leaned one more time to kiss me and I kissed back, but it's a softly and innocent kiss.


- Sophie's POV

I went back to my sit by Marissa and I saw Davi was not there
"Where's Davi?" I asked her
"He went to by something for the kids to eat." Marissa said and I nodded, "You really like that Alex girl, don't you?" Rissa asked, such a change of subject
"I don't like her Marissa. I love her, she's my daughter already." I said and she nodded with a confuse face, "We receiver her temporary guard today." I said
"Wow, I thought it would take longer." She said
"It's suppose to take longer, but we have one of the best lawyers and also the circumstances she's living were awful. It's better for her to wait to the results of the definitive guard with us." I said and she nodded
"I like her, she is kinda like a little you." Marissa said and I giggled
"Demi said the same thing." I said still giggling
"How're you two going with all this adoption thing?" She asked
"Really good actually. I think it's something we talk since we met. We just didn't expect this to be this early, but I think Angie is right, we can't choose when we're gonna feel this kind of connection with a kid and when we feel we can't ignore it." I said
"Aww, it's so cute." Rissa said just as Davi came back with three popcorn bags which he handed to the kids, "The way Angie described what the girls feel for Alex." She answered him
"Let me guess, we can't choose when we're gonna feel connected with a kid and when we feel it we can't ignore." He said and Marissa nodded surprise
"How do you know?" She asked
"Mom say this everytime she brings a new kid home." Pax said turning to look at us with an annoyed face
"She said this about you too little bro so do not do this face." I said and he sighed with an whatever-face make me giggle. Trevor and Alex went back to their sits
"Hey mom." Alex said passing by me to sit down
"Hey Lex." I said while she was sitting, "Babe we've to talk." I said and she looked at me, "What's the deal with call Demi mom?" I asked and she sighed just like Demi does make me giggle
"Why are you giggling?" She asked
"Because you're starting to act like Demi. You sighed just like her." I said still giggling. Making her blush, "Now answer me." I said stopping the giggle
"I don't know. With you it's normal, but with Demi I feel kinda forced. For me she's still my idol, not my mom, I mean she's my mom too, but I just don't wanna to have to stop to call you mom." Alex said looking down
"Hey, is okay." I said lifting her head and hugging her, "Call us the way you want, okay? We don't want you to feel forced, we love you no mattering how you call us." I said and she nodded smiling
"Thanks." She said smiling. The judges came back to the panel and the auditions started again. After about thirty minutes Paulina turned to Simon, she said something that I didn't listen and after Demi and Kelly had hugged her she left the panel. "What happened?" I send a message to Demi, "She's feeling sick. Apparently Simon gave her some poison food, she's lactose intolerant, I think he did it because of the bull balls." Demi said, I can't believe Simon did it, for God's sake, he's a grown up man. The next contestant came on stage
"What happened?" Marissa asked me confuse
"Simon gave something for Paulina to eat with lactose. She's lactose intolerant." I said and Marissa shook her head to Simon's behavior
"Really? How old is he?" She said incredulous and I giggled. Marissa turned back to the stage and I turned to check on Alex, just noticed it's something I do quite a lot when she's with me, some kind of protective instinctive
"Hey, are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?" I asked her and she turned to look at me
"Nah, not really. I ate when I was with Demi." She said and I nodded, I put my arm around her shoulder and she got closer cuddling with me. A really funny contestant came in and he started to sing, well, more like scream and I could see Demi and Simon trying not to let the guy notice they're laughing, but we all know how quiet Demi is when she's laughing. Kelly stop the guy from sing more and he looked at her with a content smile, he really thought he went well
"Well, uhm. Let's start. Kelly." Simon said smirking turning to look at her
"Uhm, Demi." Kelly said turning to look at Demi and we could listen the crowd giggling
"Uhm, well. Simon." Demi said turning to look at Simon while trying not to laugh
"Okay, well. It was the. Worse. Minute of my life. It was awful." Simon said caressing his eyebrow with his pinky finger while looking to a paper and then back to the contestant, "Let's vote. Kelly." Simon said
"I'm sorry it's gonna be a no." Kelly said and the guy nodded
"Sorry, it's a no." Demi said and he nodded again
"It's a no, but thank you for coming." Simon said and the guy nodded while waving to the crowd and walking to the side of the stage. The other auditions went well till a couple came on stage
"Hi what's your name?" Simon asked
"Second hand-high." The couple answered
"How did you meet?" Simon asked
"For a college friend." The woman answered
"You're lovebirds then?" Kelly said and the guy giggled
"The woman can answer it." He said
"No, we're engaged." The woman answered, she seams nice, but her voice was giving on my nerves and knowing Simon, on his as well
"You're engaged then?" Simon asked
"Not anymore." She said and Demi reacted without think
"What happened?" She shouted the question letting her hands fall on the panel
"We didn't work." The woman said
"Did you cheat on each other?" Simon asked
"No." The couple answered together
"Did you hook up with anyone after the brake up?" Demi asked
"No. Look at me, he won't wanna anyone after me." The woman said and Simon laughed devilish
"Yeah mama!" Kelly said
"I feel your pain." He said to the guy who giggled, "What are you gonna sing?" Simon asked
"We're gonna sing an original song." The girl said and Simon chuckled, "And you're not gonna do this face because you're gonna love it, it's gonna be a hint." The girl said making Simon giggle
"Okay." Simon said nodding for them to start. The girl start to sing and her voice was awful, but the song was actually audible, not the most amazing song, but it's kinda cool. The people on the crowed started to sing and dance along letting her more confident. Simon was really liking the song, she's dancing on her chair, but the she got up and went to Simon's side
"You better ask me to dance." She said making hi laugh and then she went behind him with her head on his shoulder
"So Simon, are you gonna ask me to dance?" The girl asked and Simon giggled
"No." He screamed with his British accent with his pink finger on his eyebrow, he always do it when he's uncomfortable with something. Kelly went back to her sit and the couple finished the song. "It's awful." Simon said and the crowed started to boo him, "Why are you booing me?" He asked with his arms open looking to the crowd
"Because.. I kinda liked this song." Kelly said looking at him
"In someone else on it?" He said in disbelief
"Probably." Kelly said and then turned to look to the couple, "With all due respect. Did you right it?" She asked to the girl
"Yes." The girl answered out of breath
"You did a great work. It's a catchy song. I'll probably be singing it with my cousins, my own crew later." Kelly said and the couple nodded
"It's not my type of song, but it's a catchy song." Demi said in a professional voice and the girl nodded
"Let's vote. Kelly." Simon said
"Sorry, it's gonna be a no." Kelly said
"Demi." Simon said
"Sorry it's a no." She answered
"Three nos guys, but thanks for coming." Simon said and they nodded leaving the stage. After this the judges decided to do another brake and I decided to go backstage
"I'll go with you." Marissa said and I nodded
"Alex, are you coming?" I asked, she's about to answer, but Maddie interrupted her
"Let her here, you're monopolizing her. I'll take care of my niece ." Madison said the last part giggling making everyone giggle as well since Alex is older than her
"Okay. Look after her and call me if you need anything." I said looking at Olivia and she nodded
"Hey, just for you to know. I'm your aunty as well." Livvy smiling said turning to Alex
"I know." Alex said shyly
"Oh. Soph already told you." Livvy said and Alex nodded. I'm lucky to have Livvy as sister, because right there she knew exactly what to do about my shyly daughter, "Hey, c'mon, you don't have to be shy. Is not like you're around the family of a pop star." Olivia said making Alex giggle, "Look, it's just Demi Lovato's sister." Olivia said pointing to Madison who punched her playfully making everyone giggle
"She hates be called like this." Alex said without think
"I love you already! You know me so well." Maddie said making Alex giggle
"I think you're in good hands. Anything ask Trevor to walk you to backstage." I told Alex and she nodded, "Trevor, keep an eye on her." I said and he nodded. I walked with Rissa to Demi
"The girls seams to like Alex." She said linking her arm in mine
"I noticed, I'm kinda relieved, the last thing Demi needs is Madison not liking Alex." I said and Marissa nodded in agreement
"Hey, you're Demi's best friend right?" A guy from the crew asked Marissa taking her from me
"It's correct. Why?" She asked
"We're doing a video with the Ask me to dance song. Can you go to her side." The guy asked pointing to where Demi was. Marissa nodded confused and I turned to find simon by my side
"What's happening?" I asked him with my arms crossed
"We're making a kind of music video to the Ask me to dance song." Simon said resting his arm around my shoulders
"The one of that crazy couple?" I asked and he nodded, "Why?" I asked
"Because they're funny. Kelly thought it's a good idea." He said and I nodded giggling. They set Marissa by Demi's side for the video and then they start to record it.


- Demi's POV

After the auditions are over we went back to Angie's. We got changed and five minutes later Pax came to our room screaming saying Simon was downstairs. Soph, Alex and I went downstairs
"Hey girls. Wait, since when do you wear glasses?" Simon asked me curious
"Since I need them idiot." I said making everyone laugh
"Lovato." He said trying to make me nervous
"Cowell." I said mocking his tone
"Mom did you get what I asked you?" Soph asked to Angie changing the subject and Angie nodded handing her an iPhone box to her, Soph turned to Alex and handed it to her, "Here babe, now you've a phone, just like I promised." Sophie said and Alex smiled thankfully
"Thank you mom." I kinda feel jealous. I wish Alex could call me mom like she does with Sophie without feel pressure, but I won't pressure her anymore, I'll just give her time
"You're welcome babe. It's mines and Demi's gift to you." Sophie said winking at me and Alex turned to me
"Thank you Dems." She said hugging me
"You're welcome baby girl." I said hugging her back and kissing her cheek
"Pax, help her have everything seated." Soph said and Pax nodded leaving the room with Alex to go to Brad's officer, "No Pax. Sat her phone with my laptop. It's in my room at the same place as always." Soph said and the two kids ran up the stairs
"You two, you better slow down." Angie said and they stopped running. Simon sat alone on one of the couches, Brad and Angie sat side by side on other one and Soph sat on the last one bringing me down with her and adjusting me around her legs. She's so comfortable in that position, with her legs over the couch and her arms around me that I kinda felt forced to feel comfortable as well, I take the time to just save that moment in my head, it's so good to have her wrapped on me, it felt right, perfect
"How're you Simon?" Brad asked braking the comfortable silence
"I am good Bradley. And you two?" Simon asked to Brad and Angie
"We're good." They answered together while smiling at each other, they really seams like a nice couple
"You should get someone to you too Simon. Maybe then you would stop being so grumpy." I said giggling and everyone laughed
"Forget it Demi. We all know how much Simon is against long time relationships." Soph said
"I'm not saying he have to marry someone, I'm just saying he should get someone." I said making Simon uncomfortable
"My relationship doesn't due respect for the both of you." He said in a defensive tone
"It's because you don't have one." I said and we all laughed, but he didn't seam comfortable
"Sophie, maybe you could substitute Paulina tomorrow." Simon said changing the subject
"No way. I don't know anything about music." She said refusing
"Of course you know. Someone who plays over five instruments, knows how to actually sing and how to use their voice properly and also have a percentage of an recorder label should of know something." Simon said, I didn't know about the record label, it's something knew
"Record label?" I asked curious turning my head to look at her
"She has a percentage of Syco." Simon said taking me by surprise
"Are you serious?" I said in disbelief
"It's a gift. And it's just ten percent." She said as if it's not a big deal
"How come your business attack almost all the fronts?" I asked and she sighed
"Her father was paranoiac about leave her without anything. So since she's too young to decided what she wants he got a bit of everything, then when she get old she could choose, but looks like she preferred to lets things this way." Simon said explaining
"My. Dad. Was. Not. Paranoiac." She said raising her tone at each word
"What's happening?" Olivia asked coming downstairs
"Simon calling my dad paranoiac." Soph answered pissed
"And said the man who's so afraid to have his heart broken that don't even let people get closer." Olivia said defending Sophie's side
"And who are the little one to talk with me like that?" Simon asked, but not so pissed as what I was expecting
"I'm her sister and you're the one suppose to look after her, not put the finger in her wounds." Olivia said raising her voice toward him making her accent even more noticeable
"It's okay Olivia. Chill sis, come here." Sophie said and Livvy walked to Sophie sitting by her side, well our side since I was with my body all over hers
"Hey Demz." Olivia said. She's not so fangirl mood anymore when she's around me
"Hey Livvy." I said smiling
"Backing to the point I'd like if you joined us on the panel." Simon said and Sophie shook her head
"Even if I wanted I could, the social assistant is going at our place tomorrow, at least one of us have to be there with Alex when they show up." Sophie said, I had totally forgot about it
"So it's a no?" Simon asked
"I know you're not used to receive it, just to give it, but yes it's a no." Soph said and he sighed giving up. After a while Angie went to the kitchen to cheek if the dinner was ready
"Guys, the dinner is served." She said walking back to us, we all went back to the dinner room and Sophie went to call Alex and Pax.
