Chapter 100 - Something Has Changed

Marshall's P.O.V:
Nick shakes his head as he stares at the black coffee table that's infront of him. He stands up from his seat as I look up at the clock. It's almost midnight.

"You heard him wrong." Nick sighs.

"He asked me if Iris was part of the contract." I state, making him let out a sigh as he shakes his head. "How the hell does he know?" I sigh.

"And how many other know?" Nick huffs.

"Only two of us actually." Nick and I both look up at the sound of Jays voice. We watch him as he leans off the door way. "Well at least I think it's just the two of us." He mumbles as he walks further into the room.

"And who's the other person?" Nick asks.

"Rose." Jay shrugs as he sits down on Nicks chair.

"Rose?" Nick repeats. "The british girl you left with?" He asks.

"I didn't leave...I got thrown out." Jay states

"How does she know about the contract?" I ask, making Jay look away from Nick and at me.

"She's manages managers." He shrugs. "She's the top dog...She snaps her finger and it's done." He adds.

"So...Say if-" Nick starts but gets cut off.

"Say if someone has broken rules...She makes sure the person deals with the consequences." He shrugs as he looks at Nick and then me. It goes quiet for a couple of seconds and I just sit there and watch Tessa.

"Did she have anything to do with Tessa?" I break the silence. Jay looks away from the far wall and his eyes lock onto me. He stares at me for a couple of long seconds before he clears his throat and sits up.

"I would have murdered Rose if she did." He finally speaks. "But she knows what's up." He shrugs. "I'm not sure if you're aware but this happens all the time in the industry." He carries on. "When ever a celebrity is struggling, the top dogs in the industry fix it." He states.

"They create a contract like this for everyone?" I ask.

"Not like yours, no." He shakes his head. "Most of them are like cheating rumors, miscarriages, cancer...Medical stuff that will get the paparazzi buzzing and the audience watching." He adds. "This is the first time they got two celebrity's engaged." He shrugs.

"What else does she know?" Nick asks.

"She knows that this wasn't any accident or a random attack...Or...A revenge attack." He says slowly. "Every last detail was planned out and dotted down on paper....The plan was seen by many other....Perfected and adjusted by others." He mumbles the last part as he stares at Tessa.

"This wasn't Gayle's son was it?" I ask quietly.

"No." Jay says after a long pause. "And if I were you Marshall....I wouldn't go after the people that did this to my baby sister." He sighs.

"You can just expect us to let them get away with this." I say in disbelief.

"I wouldn't even mention it." Jay talks over me. "You drop this." He says sternly. "And you move on." He adds as he glances between Nick and I.

"That's just..." Nick trails off when Jay starts to speak.

"You got a wife to think about, Nicklaus." Jay says quickly. "And you have Iris and your two other kids to think about, Marshall." He says as he turns to face me. "You don't question this. You just let it go and don't try to be smart by going to the cops thinking that they're going to help you because they're not....They get paid to ignore shit like this." He carries on before it goes quiet between us. Nicks phone rings and he takes it out from his pocket before he starts to walk towards the door.
