Emily's POV

It has officially been a month since I last saw Alison at the brew with her friend Spencer getting coffees to go. I kind of miss her in a way. She has been on my mind ever since and she won't go away.

"Seriously, Em, you have got to let this go." Aria tells me which snaps me out of my thoughts.

"Sorry, I did it again, didn't I?" I look at her guilty as she nods her head.

"If you keep thinking about Alison, your head is going to explode." Hanna says with all seriousness.

"I can't help it!" I tell them as we continue to walk down the aisle of the tiny store in Rosewood.

My dad sent us out to get some groceries for dinner tonight. He's inviting the girl he has been seeing for almost two months. I'm not too happy about it.

What if they get serious and she moves in? It would be like stabbing my mom in the back. I'm not ready for that!

"You need to move on." Aria gives me a small smile. And to answer your thought, they both know I'm gay. I told them like two weeks ago. They took it well which I'm thankful for. Hanna said she knew because she'd catch me checking her out. Which is probably true. She's hot. "You're probably never going to see Alison again."

"You're right. I need to move on." I have to. It's what's best for me. I'm sure I can find someone who will catch my attention. Like that blonde in the next aisle across from us. She seems like my type. She's probably slightly taller than me. "Starting with that blonde over there."

"Go Emily!" Aria cheers which makes me roll my eyes. I love her enthusiasm.

I slowly make my way over to the aisle, trying to think of what to say to this girl. What if she rejects me? I don't know if I can handle that or not. But I have to try. To get over Alison. It's the only thing I can do.

I walk out into the middle section and nearly see my life flash before my eyes. A buggy came to a halt and someone muttered 'shit' under their breath. Damn. I almost got creamed by a buggy!

"I'm sorry, I didn't- Emily?" I snap my head to the angelic voice and sure enough, it's Alison. Damn, she's even more beautiful than I remembered!

"Ali-Alison?" I'm at a loss for words. The girl I thought I would never see, is standing in front of me. Am I dreaming?

"It's so good to see you!" She walks around the buggy and pulls me into a warm embrace. I slowly wrap my arms around her before letting my lips form into a smile. This is nice. Her vanilla fragrance fills my nose again. I missed her smell. I missed all of her.

"Yeah, you too." We pull away with smiles on our faces. She looks me over like she did in the brew and my heart leaps into my mouth.

"Em, what happened to talking to that-" Aria stops when she sees Alison standing there with an awkward smile. "Um, hi." Aria flushes, embarrassed. Hanna looks over Alison and smirks.

"Um, Alison, this is Aria and Hanna, my best friends." Alison smiles at them.

"Wait, this is Alison?" Aria looks at the blonde in disbelief.

"Damn, you were right Em. She is hot." Hanna grins while I flush. I can't believe Hanna just said that right in front Alison! Ali looks down at her shoes and blushes.

"Shouldn't you two be shopping?" I glare at them. Aria takes the hint and grabs Hanna's arm.

"Yes, we do. Han, let's go." She pulls on Hanna's arm but the blonde doesn't budge.

"You and Emily would be so-" Aria stomps on Hanna's foot causing her to wince. I love you, Aira. "What the hell, Aria!"

"Shopping, now." This time Aria manages to get Hanna to move.

"I'm sorry about them." I look over at Alison with a small smile.

"It's fine. They seem like really good friends."

"They are. So how have you been?" We both start walking down another aisle as she looks for what she needs.

"I've been pretty good." She reaches upwards onto the shelf, and I couldn't help but notice how her short dress rises up her tanned legs more. I gulp. Damn. She turns around so fast that I didn't even have time to look away. She grins but doesn't say anything. "How about you."

"Um, good."

Liar.

You've been obsessing over Alison ever since the first time you met her.

That's beside the point.

"Um, are you having dinner tonight?" I couldn't help but notice how there are a few things in the buggy that's for a dinner. Of course, she's having dinner tonight, you idiot. I mentally slap myself in the forehead for asking such a dumb question.

"I'm actually going over to my boyfriend's house tonight." My heart instantly drops at this. She has a boyfriend? How could I have not known she has a boyfriend? She's drop-dead gorgeous. But then again, her checking me out gave me a different idea.

Maybe I was just seeing things and was hoping she was checking me out. Why does she have to be taken? Why can't we just be together? I mentally sigh at this. Great.

"Oh, um that's cool." I look down at my hands with a frown on my face. But then I realize that she doesn't need to know that it had affected me. I look back up at her to see her staring at me intently. Likes she's trying to figure something out. "I hope it goes well." I give her a smile before looking down at my phone as an excuse. "Hanna just texted me. They are at the checkout and I have the money so I have to go."

Not giving her the time to respond, I walk away as my heart slowly starts to fall apart.

----

As I set up the table for us, my mind keeps going back to the beautiful blonde. I still can't get over the fact that she has a boyfriend. It's not fair! Why does this have to happen to me?

And now I have to meet some girl that's probably going to try and take my mom's place. Which is even worse. I wish my mom was here right now so my dad wouldn't be seeing this girl.

I can already tell you, I am not going to like this woman. She's probably the type that thinks she's above it all. She's going to take up all my dad's attention because she thinks she has to have it.

I roll my eyes at the thought.

"Are you okay, Emmy?" I look over at my dad to see he looks concerned. I have to do this for him.

"Yeah, I'm fine." I give him a reassuring smile which he buys.

"I hope you like this girl. She's really something special to me." He has the biggest smile on his face when he says this. I need to be happy for my dad. I haven't seen him smile like this since mom.

"I'm sure I will." I give him a small hug. "I'm going to go get ready before she gets here."

---

I decide to wear something nice. I wear a black dress that's knee length with a pair of sandals and leave my hair in its natural curls. I apply a little makeup before brushing my teeth.

"Honey, she's here!" My dad yells up the stairs before I inhale a deep breath.

You can do this, Emily. Do this for dad. He's happy so you should be happy for him. And you are going to be.

I slowly walk down stairs, taking my time. I stop halfway and look at a picture of my mom smiling back at me. My heart breaks.

"I'm always going to love you, mom." I whisper, keeping the tears back. "Always and forever."

I finish walking down the stairs and come to a halt when I see Alison standing there with a shocked look that matches mine.

Holy fuck.
