" Leah," A soft voice called, causing Leah's eyes to flutter open. Her vision was blurred, clearly signifying she didn't have her glasses on. She blinked a few times, before attempting to sit up to see who was talking to her, only to get greeted with that same large pain spreading up her back.

She looked forward to see a figure standing before her. The fuzzy- due to her blind eyes, but long gown and blonde hair told her it was Lindsay.

She groaned, clutching her fists into what felt like sheets and shuffled herself up. Despite the agony, her body felt relaxed, and she realised she was in a bed.

Jared's bed.

Leah remembered him coming to get her from the basement, but she couldn't recall him taking her to the bedroom. Leah must've been knocked out clean. She just hoped he hadn't caused he more damaged whilst she was practically unconscious.

She watched as Lindsay's body shifted towards her and she felt the glasses prop on her face, only to see Lindsay's old face staring down at her with a large smile. However, Leah clearly recognised that hint of sadness in the twinkle of her eye. Leah may have been in the basement, but it wasn't that long to forget that look she'd seen on Lindsay's wrinkled face on several small occasions.

" Good morning," Lindsay said cheerfully.

" What time is it?" Leah's voice was hoarse and thick with sleep. She rubbed her face as she awaited a response from Lindsay.

" It's 11am," Lindsay told her. " Gabriel and Jared are out working, but Jared felt it was best if you slept in today and got some proper rest." Leah just nodded her head, her eyes looking away in discomfort.

Leah wasn't surprised that Jared didn't want to see her, and had told his mom to give the message. He may have brought her back upstairs, but she knew he'd still be mad. She tried to murder him, and that's not something you just forget overnight. Leah still couldn't believe her own actions- the way she'd actually gone through with it. If she was truly honest with herself, she felt terrible.
(B-but I did it for myself)

Leah would be damned if she'd ever build up the courage to try pull something like that ever again.

She couldn't risk it.

There was silence for a minute, and Leah winced again from the stinging sensation in her back- the friction between the clothing she wore was vibrating against her skin and her wounds caused the most unbearable sting. Leah could automatically feel Lindsay's eyes on her. She watched from the corner of her eye as Lindsay placed herself at the bottom of the bed, which caused Leah to flinch, inflicting more torture upon her broken body.

" Well, Jared wants you cleaned up," Lindsay had read her mind- she knew she'd mention her back. "Do you mind if I take a look at your back?"

Leah was taken back. For some reason, she felt almost embarrassed getting her wounded flesh out to Lindsay- she knew it would look like fresh hickeys, and It had been her husband who'd created the mess. Lindsay had been there to see it, and now she got to take a second look.

"Yeah- Well, I- I mean sure," Leah fumbled with her word,  but just removed her shaky body from the bed and turned her back towards Lindsay.

She felt as Lindsay began to remove her shirt- her hands were cold, and Leah jumped out of her skin again from the icy touch of Lindsay's fingertips. Leah listened as Lindsay let out a rugged sigh.

It felt like forever before Lindsay stopped staring at her back and walked over to a cabinet at the other end of the room. Leah watched her intently before she pulled out a First Aid kit. Lindsay gave her a slight smile before walking back over and placing some antiseptic on the wounds. Leah hissed as the liquid was applied, and she clenched her teeth together to prevent herself from swearing.
