KHEL'S POV

"Fact number one! Bible is the most selling book of all time," she said.

Kasalukuyan kaming nakaupo ngayon sa dalampasigan. Breeze caresses our skins as the waves roll over the shoreline. We're under a coconut tree's shed, so the sun's heat hardly reach us.

Meera- who's serious about convincing me to be a believer of God- is sitting right at my side, over the sand. May hawak siyang makapal na Holy Bible at isang kwaderno na punong-puno ng notes.

"Do you also know that the Bible was translated in over 670 languages? It is the most read, selling, and studied book in the planet," she added. "And not even Harry Potter nor Percy Jackson series ever come close to its rating."

Napataas ang kilay ko. That's a trivia for me. Ngayon ko lang 'yon narinig.

"It says, 2 Timothy 3:16, all scripture is given by inspiration of God. Which means the author of this book is the God Himself," an'ya.

The topic is piquing my attention. It's intriguing.

"How'd you know that that wasn't fabricated?" I asked. "That ancient book, as you said, was translated in different languages. How'd you know that the contents are still the same as the original Hebrew's? How'd you know it still contains the same message as what really happened from the past thousand years?"

"Good question!" Meera snapped her fingers. Binuksan n'ya ang notebook at may binasa roon. "But first of all, do you know that in AD 1229, Bible was prohibited and been banned? Also, in AD 1234 from the Council of Tarragona, took rules about no one must possess the Bible. And if someone does, it must be given to the local bishop and burn the entire book, Old and New Testament."

Then she turned the page of her notebook. Lifting her head, she turned to me with a convincing eyes.

"But despite all of that, the Bible survived because of the Christian believers who shed their blood and died for the sake of spreading this book. The words of God," at sabay turo n'ya sa kaniyang Bible. "Example is Wycliffe who's the first one to translate the Bible in English language. Years and years of struggles, many tried and many surrendered, but how come the Bible is still alive?"

I squint my eyes as I listen to her.

"Because..." She, then opened the Bible. "It is clearly states from John chapter 10 verse 35, 'scriptures can NEVER be broken'. Another fact from the Bible."

I don't know why, but I'm absolutely hooked up to this topic. She surely made a lot of research. An'dami niyang alam eh.

"Coincidence?" Meera shrugged her shoulders. "I don't think so."
