I slipped the dress on, put real diamond stud earrings in my ears and lastly put on black butterfly heels before heading downstairs.
But my mother was in the living room watching tv as she folded my sibling's laundry.
I tried to sneak over quietly to the front door but I swear this woman is a hawk!
" Rowan, what are you wearing and where are you going?"
I turned around and looked my mother in the eyes.
" I got a text from an unknown number...and it turned out to be my father".
I watched as my mother's face paled, completely drained of color.
My mom shook her head sadly. " Why didn't I know that this would happen? Where are you going?", she asked yet again.
After I took a few deep breaths I started to explain.
" I am going to the mafia ball tonight. I have to go or he will kill all of you. And I can't loose another important person in my life again..I just can't go through that all over again! I love you all so much! So much that I am willing to risk my life for you!", I told her.
My mother's eyes started watering by the time I was done explaining things to her.
I walked over to her and wiped away her tears with my thumb.
" Go, but be safe", she told me.
