If I Should Return

Hear these chilling words, for they may be my last,

We're on the eve on battle, mornings coming fast.

With the break of light, death can be assured,

And if it should be I, then life I have adored.

I deserve this fate, for I have taken life,

I've cut down many sons, and taken husbands from

Their wives.

I beg you show no pity, for this I don't deserve,

I was marked with death on the day of my birth.

With the morning sun, I take my sword to arm,

With this new extension, I cause such brutal harm.

And all my fellow soldiers, I hope you shall return,

But if it is not so, a lesson has been learned.
