You couldn't believe it.

He stood you up.

This wasn't like him; Niall was always on time for your dates. Actually, he was always early.

You couldn't help but worry. Was something wrong? Did something happen? But you were also a little upset. What if he was trying to tell you something. What if he got bored with you simply because you weren't famous like he was.

The possibilities were endless and as much as you didn't want him to not like you anymore, you didn't want him to be hurt either.

He was already an hour late so you decided to call but the phone went to voicemail. You sighed and hung up, as the waitress came back up to the table for at least the tenth time now.

"Are you sure you don't want to order now?" she asked apologetically.

You shook your head no but you couldn't help but feel a pang in your chest at her comment. It was all starting to really sink in that you were sitting at a table set for two all alone.

"Could I get you anything while you wait then, Miss?"

You grabbed your purse off the floor to grab your money. "I think I'll just pay for my drinks and then I'll be on my way."

"No need," she said. You looked up and she had a face of compassion. Of course she would try to pity you, she was human just like everyone else and she felt bad. But the last thing you wanted was anyone's pity.

"Here," you insisted but the waitress wouldn't take it. You set your money on the table and walked away before she could hand it back.

Once outside you tried calling Niall again. The phone rang a couple more times before it went to voicemail again. You shut your phone not in the mood to talk to any voicemail at the moment.

As you drove through town to your apartment you couldn't help but feel a slight anger rise within you. Sure there was the possibility something could've happened but you doubted it; it would be all over the news by now anyways.

Sure enough, when you pulled up to the driveway his car was sitting perfectly in place in the usual spot.

In anger you thought of every possible threat you could. After all, the boy just stood you up and you weren't the type of person to just let someone walk all over you. Especially a guy.

While in the elevator you planned out the perfect speech to tell him about how you try so hard to make this relationship work even though you get threats and harassment from others everyday while he just moses on without any care in the world.

You opened the door and could hear the tv on in the other room.

"Thay," he called when he heard the door open. "Is that you?" he asked.

You walked into the living room to see him lounging on the couch, cuddled around a bag of chips and a coke, eyes focused on the screen.

Infuriated, the only thing you could do was stand there, afraid that you might bust the tv if you started moving again.

"Hey babe" he said. "How was your day?" he asked, still watching some soccer match on tv.

"How was my day?" you repeated. "How was MY day?" you said angrily.

He must've felt the tension in your voice because he turned to face you. "What's wrong?" he asked curiously. Then he took in your outfit- the dress, the curled hair, the expensive shoes, and his face fell. "Oh shit," he said and just stared at you.

Now was your chance to yell at him. Everything that you wanted to say just two minutes ago could finally come out and you could tell him how you feel. But for some reason, you just couldn't.

The frown on his face looked genuine and to be honest he looked like he was about to cry.

You opened your mouth to say something but no words came out. It was so hard to yell at him when obviously it was just an honest mistake.

"Thay, I'm so sorry," he said, finally breaking the tension.

You still wanted to say something, maybe you weren't angry like before, but you were hurt. But nothing would make it's way out, so you cried.

You just stood there and cried. He got up from the couch and wrapped his arms around your waist. You buried your head into his chest and wiped your tears on his shirt.

"I'm so sorry, love," he said, playing with your hair. He kissed the top of your head. "I'm so sorry."

Yeah, you were hurt but you knew he cared about you. Whatever the reason for missing your date you could get over. He was a good boyfriend. He loved you. And he would never want to hurt you.
