Looking into the mirror in the girls bathroom, I started to doubt myself. Could I really do this? Go in front of the whole school, dance an entire routine that I created, and sing?! I turned to Cat with a terrified look on my face.

“I don't know if I can do this,” I said quickly, looking down. Cat sighed.

“Yes, you can. You've done it a million times before, what makes this any different?” I looked back up at her with a preposterous look.

“Maybe the fact that its the entire school, our classmates, not just random strangers in a bar,” I exclaimed, turning back to the mirror. I watched Cat roll her eyes and cross her arms. I, on the other hand, stared at myself with big, round eyes. I was already in my outfit for this song, my mask inches away on the counter.

“Oh, stop being such a scare-dy cat. They were not strangers, at least not to you. They didn't know who you were, but you knew who they were. There literally is no difference,” she tried soothing, checking to make sure the door was still locked. I sighed and turned back around, my mask in my hands. Its was silver, with black swirling designs on it, my outfit a bit different. I had on a loose, gray sleeveless shirt with a leather jacket, high heeled ankle boots, and dark blue sequence covered shorts, fish-net stockings on. My nails were also painted gray. Hair straightened, I looked at the mask admiringly.

“Yes, there is. At the bar, the people were completely random. Some were familiar, but it always varied. But here... the same faces... every time,” I looked up at Cat. “Someone's bound to notice, to figure it out. To put all the pieces together,” I looked back down at my mask. “To tear the mask away to find whats underneath,” I whispered dejectedly. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked up into sympathetic, friendly eyes. She inhaled and put her other hand on my other shoulder, looking into my eyes.

“Then don't let them,” she said. I smiled and nodded. She backed away and looked up just as the bell rang, signaling the eight minute break between our six and seventh periods. The end of the day, but it was all the time we needed. She pulled out her black mask, the one every dancer would be wearing, except for me. Which I didn't exactly agree on.

“I still don't understand why you guys picked a plain black mask. Why couldn't you pick one that would show off more? Like mine does,” I said, running my thumb over its glossy surface. Cat chuckled and put her mask on, her brown eyes shielded behind the black mask.

“Because you're the main event. People have to know whose who. Now come on, its almost time,” she said. I smiled and shook my head, bowing my head so my face met the mask, turning around to find myself reflecting. The real me. Well, the Nerd and the Rebel are both me, but this one feels more... free. I smiled as I exhaled, hearing the intercom come on, Cat smirking behind me. Standing up straight, I made my way to the door, hearing the fuss of the overhead speaker.

Listen up, students of JK High. Its time. Time for what you've all been waiting for. Time for the Britney Spears sex riot!" Lena's voice echoed, making both me and Cat laugh. Cracking the door open, I could see students in the hallway stop and look up, then look at each other, before talking. About me. Asking questions. Oh lord, here we go.

“Now, if you would all kindly step into the main lobby, that would be just peachy,” Lena asked with over exaggerated pronunciation, making Cat and I suppress a laugh. Watching as all the teens exited our hallway, excited chatter mumbling about them, I finally walked out once these hallways were deserted. And, thankfully, Griffon was also computer god and not just a dance legend, so no one could check the cameras to see who went into where last. In this hallway only. Its would have looked like a technical camera difficulty inside the system, since he planted a little virus doing just that.
