Chapter 22

Promise POV

It was almost time for closing and I was ready to go home and knock out. Mama Jones had me working this whole week so I was happy to be getting a break tomorrow for Ke'Shawn birthday and spend all day with him.

I took off my white apron then hung up on the hanger. I grabbed my bag from the employee room then went to Mama Jones office.

"Alright, Mama Jones.. I'll be on my way now" I told her. She looked up at me and smiled. ''Alright sweetie but one more thing" she said pointing her index finger up. I was really hoping she was not going to make me clean up this place. "Yes Ma'am?" I asked. "Their will be a new employee starting by Sunday and I would love for you to be her  trainer" she goes.

I better be seeing this on my pay check -.-

"Yes Ma'am" I responded. She simply smiled. "Thank you so much honey, have a nice day tomorrow" she said then looked back at her paper work. I closed the door behind me then clocked out.

I went outside then went into the Toyota. I ain't never really like riding my Porsche around here cause these people crazy as hell. I started the engine, stuck the keys into the ignition then went straight home.

I parked onto my drive way then made my way into the house. The only light I saw open was my dad's office which was surprising. This negro ain't never home no more.

I unlocked the front door then placed my bag down by the door. I went into the kitchen and grabbed myself a banana then went upstairs to his room.

He was sitting in front of his desk, writing on some papers. I never really went into this room so it was kind of frightening for me. Everything was black and creepy.

"Hey pops" I said from the door as I took a bite from the banana. He ain't even bother looking up. He just sat there as he continued to write. "Hey baby girl, where have you been?" he asked. I figured he still ain't know about me being employed now even though it's been almost two weeks.

"Well I thought mom would've been told you know but I guess you was too busy to hear.. but I got a job now" I said. He finally looked up and faced me. "Since when?" he asked. "Since now dad" I said. He gave me a look in shock. "Honey, you don't need no job, do you know who I am?" he asked as he patted his chest. I rolled my eyes. "Yes dad , I know exactly who you are, but I think it's about that time I get my own money" I said. He sighed as he shook his head. "I don't really see what's the point but okay" he said then looked back down at his papers.

I had the nerve to go to him and punch him dead in his throat. I just simply sighed then slammed the door. I walked back to my room, hoping I didn't wake up Trey, but I could still hear his snoring so I was good.

I threw my work clothes up on the hangers then took a long shower. I really needed time to get over this cause thinking about this just made me more upset then it should be. Why couldn't my own damn father be proud of me like normal fathers are.

After a 40 minute shower, I threw on one of Ke'Shawn shirt he left here, lotion up then went straight to bed.

Dad was knocking on the door, trying to get me to open the door but I ignored it. I didn't have time to listen to all his bull shit excuses. I simply plugged my headphones in my phone and closed my eyes as 'Bandz' by August Alsina played.

She told me what she want ain’t hard to understand

She on that paper chase, she need them rubber bands
