Q&A

As a special thanks for all of the support on Starting Over, I wanted to publish a Q&A answering questions I've gotten about Starting Over. Thank you all for your support! It means so much to me!

1. How did people survive?

•Uriah- Uriah was in a coma for a few months before the Bureau started testing a new serum on him. They didn't think that it worked but when they took him off life support he kept living. After another few months he woke up and returned to Chicago.

•Tori- When Tori was shot the bullet hit her in the chest but missed her heart. She passed out and was barely alive. She was found by other members of the Allegiant a short while later and was saved.

•Lynn- When Lynn was shot she passed out and went into a coma. She woke up when everyone was at the Bureau. She was reunited with them when they came back.

•Marlene- When Marlene walked off of the roof she shattered a lot of bones and went into a coma. Everyone thought she was dead. They rushed her to the infirmary where the doctors told them she was dead because they thought she would die any second, but she didn't. After almost a year in the coma, the Factions got ahold of the new serum that the Bureau used on Uriah and used it to wake up Marlene.

2. What happened to Peter?

Peter was a part of the group for a while when he needed them to fill in information on who he was and what had happened. After they returned to Dauntless he eventually made new friends and started a new life.

3. Why didn't Tobias kiss Tris when he found out she was back?

I felt like he would be happy that she was alive but also angry that she faked her death. There's also a shock factor. I felt like Tobias would be in shock and his first reaction would not be to kiss Tris.

4. Why didn't Tobias and the rest of Tris' friends recognize her?

Tris has matured a lot since they saw her 2 years ago. Yes she still looks like a "stiff" but it's not the in the same way as it was before. They also aren't looking for her because they think she's dead. Even when they think that she looks like Tris or reminds them of Tris they brush it off since she's supposedly dead. They saw her "body" after she had faked her death which just convinced them even more that it was a coincidence.

5. Why didn't I bring Will or Al back?

In the beginning of Divergent I liked Al but by the time he died I didn't like him anymore. I also felt that he wouldn't add anything to the story and therefore it was unnecessary to bring him back. I liked Will well enough but he wasn't my favorite. I also thought that his death was a major part of the books and so I couldn't bring him back. Furthermore, if I had brought everyone back this fanfic probably would have turned into fluff. I like fluff sometimes, but it's not what I wanted to write. Most of the time I'm not good at writing fluff.

6. How did Tris fake her death?

That's answered in detail in Moving Forward if you want to check it out! If not then the basic gist of it is that Tris and Mathew came up with a plan to get her out and Mathew made a doll type thing that looked real enough to make people think Tris was dead.

7. Was Tris' nightmare about being shot at real?

Yes, it was. After Tris faked her death she moved from town to town trying to find a job and a place to settle. However, she was found by some people along the way that recognized her and wanted to run tests on her. She always stayed just out of reach until one day some bounty hunters caught up to her.
