Brittney
“Brittney, just calm down,” Kate said.
She’d been trying to calm me down ever since I’d taken the test but it wasn’t
working. There was a soft knock on the door, and then Kate’s mom, Miranda,
walked into the room.
“Hey, how are you,” she asked me.
“Not good, I’m freaking out too much,” I answered.
“Calm down,” she said. “Remember there still is a chance that you’re not
pregnant.”
“Then why would I have all the symptoms as if I am pregnant,” I asked.
“Sometimes stressing over being pregnant causes symptoms of pregnancy to
arise,” Kate’s mom told me.
“Really,” I asked incredulously.
“Yeah, how long do you have to wait for the results?”
“Actually,” Kate said, “it’s time to look.”
I didn’t want to look which made me break down in tears once again.
“Brittney, I should have asked you this earlier, but did you and Nate use any
protection? Like are you on any birth control,” Miranda asked me.
“I’m on the pill, but I don’t remember if I took it that day,” I replied.
“What about a condom,” she asked.
“I think so, but I’m not sure,” I said.
“Kate, go get the test,” Kate’s mom told her.
Kate walked out of the room, and came back a few seconds later she came back
with a huge smile on her face.
“What is it,” I asked worriedly.
“Look for yourself,” she said handing the pregnancy test to me. I looked at it
and couldn’t stop myself from smiling.
“Negative,” I whispered in relief.
Kate
I was proud of Brittney when she found out the test was negative.
“Should we go hang out with the boys,” I asked.
“Do I tell Nate about all of this,” Brittney asked me.
“If you want to be honest with him,” I replied.
“Maybe a little bit later,” she told me.
“Do you feel a little better now,” my mom asked Brittney.
“Tons, but I don’t really feel like telling Nate,” Brittney replied.
“Well, since it came out negative there’s not much to tell,” my mom said.
My phone started ringing, and I knew exactly who it was: Christian.
