“Do you have any idea at all where he might have gone,” I asked Christian’s
mom.
“No idea,” she answered. “I thought that he would have went to your house.”
“Well, could he have gone to Nate’s or Nick’s,” my mom asked.
“I don’t think so,” Christian’s mom said. “I was thinking that he could possible
be at the cemetery.”
“Why would he be there,” I asked.
“He’s never told you?”
“Tome me what,” I asked confusedly.
“You see when Christian was twelve his father dies,” Christian’s mom told me
quietly.
“How’d he die,” I asked her.
“I’ll let Christian explain that,” she told me. “I want to find him, though.”
“I’ll go with you to the cemetery,” I said. “He might want to talk to me more
than you, no offense.”
“Non taken,” she assured me. “He left without a jacket so we better get going.”
“Do you want to go with you two,” my mom asked.
“Sure,” Krystie, Christian’s mom, said.
“Let’s go,” I told them.
“Kate, did you ever try to call him,” Krystie asked me.
“No, but I’ll try on the ay there,” I answered.
Christian
I knew that I had worried my mom, but she was always trying to get me to
associate with my dad’s side of the family even though it never worked.
I wanted to explain to her that every time she made me at least try to talk to
them, it reminded me of my dad too much. If I told my mom that, though, she
would just explain that it’s okay for me to remember him. Although, it wasn’t
like that for me. I didn’t remember all of the good things about my dad; I only
remembered his death. I hated that I was old enough to understand exactly
how my dad hd died. I was there the day it happened.
I started feeling the tears falling down my cheeks. I hurried and wiped them
away. I wan’t going to cry, I had to think. Where would my mom think that I
would be? Right away I knew the answer.
Most of the time when I ran off, I would go to the cemetery. The thing was that
my dad wasn’t even buried in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. His side of the family
had rejected the idea as soon as my mom told them about it. They had argued
