Kate
“Mom, what do you think is wrong with Brittney,” I asked my mom.
“I don’t know, Kate,” my mom sighed.
I heard footsteps coming towards the waiting room. I looked up to see Dr.
Williams coming towards us.
“You guys can go sit with Brittney now,” he told us.
“Do you know what’s wrong with her,” I asked him.
“Unfortunately I don’t know what’s wrong yet, but I promise you that she will
be okay,” Dr. Williams told me. “Do any of you have any questions?”
“Do you have any ideas as to what might be wrong with Brittney,” my mom
asked.
“I don’t know right now, but like I said I promise that I’ll keep you posted,” he
said before he walked away.
I was the first one to get up and walk towards the emergency room. Christian
and my mom got up and followed me, and we walked into Brittney’s room.
“Hey, how are you feeling,” I asked her.
“My stomach still hurts, and I really want to sleep,” Brittney answered.
“I bet,” I told her. “Have they not given you anything for the pain yet?”
“No, they said that I have to wait until after I have the ultrasound,” Brittney said.
“Which I think is stupid,” Nate mumbled.
“They have their reasons,” my mom told him.
“What’s their reason for not giving somebody who is in pain any pain
medication,” Nate asked.
“They have to make sure that they give her the right type of medication. If they
don’t know what’s wrong with her and they give her random medication it can
make her condition worse,” my mom explained.
“How is there a wrong type of pain medication,” Nate asked.
“They’re going to help her if you calm down,” my mom told him.
“Whatever,” Nate muttered.
“Nate, I know you’re tired, but you need to cheer up a little bit so that you’re not
so grumpy,” Brittney said.
“How do you be happy when your girlfriend is in the hospital,” Nate asked.
“Hey, buddy,” Christian said, “how about we take a little walk so that you can
calm down?”
“It’s four in the morning I don’t feel like taking a walk, especially when my
girlfriend is in the hospital,” Nate grumbled.
“What’s wrong,” Brittney asked him.
“I basically just summed up all that’s wrong,” he told her.
