Chapter Three

Caius went to Marcus, "my daughter could've been killed" Caius vented, "but she isn't and she's awake" Marcus said, "I've decided that Jane will not be drinking blood till she realizes what she has done, and what she should do." Caius says, "If that is your wish" Marcus said, "Yes, for putting my daughter at a risk" Caius slightly cursed himself for wishing that Charlotte would die, "I'm sorry on behalf of my sister" Alec said, "Silence! You've attacked my daughter, and now your sister attacks her, my daughter has been through enough" Caius glared at Alec. Charlotte slowly woke up and felt slightly better, she noticed she wasn't in her room, instead she was laying on her father's bed, his scent was everywhere, Father wasn't behind this... but she felt mad at herself for betraying her feelings. She sat up and looked around, when she woke up from a nightmare she would see the faces of Alec, and now Jane, but she isn't seeing their faces, she felt safe in her father's chamber, she decided to not leave his room, she put the covers over her and tried to go to sleep. Caius made his way back to his room, he saw that Charlotte was still sleeping but he noticed that she kept on thrashing around,
"Charlotte" he went to his bed, concerned for her. Her eyes fluttered open she had to adjust her sight to notice who said her name, Charlotte put the cover over herself again, then removed it, but her father was still there. "You're not hallucinating" Caius says, "Do you feel any better now?" he continues, Charlotte just nods and looks back at her hands, Caius reached to hold Charli's hand, she flinched a little, but not as bad, "does your hands hurt?" Caius asked concern, "Not anymore" she replies, "I'm glad, Jane is locked up" He says, "No, it wasn't her fault, It was my fault I provoked her" Charlotte says, "I couldn't help but overhear the argument, you didn't provoke her, she was just in the mist of pain" Caius says "I said it was my birthday" Charli trails off vaguely remembers what Jane said about her father hating her, then her killing her mother.
Caius sighed, "Well Yes, It is your birthday, and it's something to celebrate" Caius finally said, his daughter shook her head, "It's not! It's a disgrace" Charlotte tried to get off of her father's bed but her father blocked her way, "Your birth is not a disgrace, it was a miracle, and your mother made sure you survived" Caius sternly says putting his hands on Charli's shoulders,
"I killed my mommy" Charl says, "You didn't kill her, it was just by instinct" Caius says,
"I know why you hate me" Charli averted her eyes away, "For awhile I did, but your mother wouldn't want you to be unhappy, she didn't die for you to be upset" Caius said, "I'm sorry.." Charli said, Caius picked his daughter up, "I was the one who made you feel that way, but you are a miracle" Caius gave a kiss on Charli's forehead, Charlotte just nodded, "But I noticed a note by your window in your chamber, why would you write something like that?" he asked
"Because I was cooped up..and they always make sure I didn't bump into you" she replied,
"And you somehow thought it's a good idea to be dead?" he looked her in the eyes, but she kept averting her eyes, "Look at me" he sternly said, she looked at him, "Now tell me you won't try anything like killing yourself" He said in a serious tone, "I won't!" Charlotte swallowed, her throat was beginning to irritate her, He noticed her eyes turn a little darker, "Do you need to feed?" he asked, "no" Charlotte lied, "Your throat says otherwise" Caius raised an eyebrow, Charlotte gulped, "I'll have Heidi get you food" he said, "no!" Charlotte protested, "You are clearly thirsty and do not defy me" Caius raised his voice, "can't I go hunting with you..." Charlotte quietly said, Caius softened his gaze, "Would you like to go hunting with me?" He asked, Charlotte quickly nodded her head, "Very well" He placed Charli down, "then let's go hunting" Caius smiled down at his daughter, she wanted to be with me, which made his undead heart feel warm,
Charli grabbed onto her father's hand as they made it down the corridors, "Charli you're alright!" Sulpicia exclaims, Charlotte nods, "You must be shaken up" Sulpicia said, "me and daddy are going hunting" Charlotte proudly said, "Oh my, you're all grown up now" Sulpicia says, "Charlotte, is quite thirsty" Caius says, "I'll let Aro know you'll be out hunting" Sulpicia says.
