I was imitating a youtube pattern in styling my hair when the video suddenly paused. I groaned as I drew nearer to the phone causing the mirror I had placed on the table to shake slightly, I wanted to ascertain the reason for the glitch. It was an incoming call from a private number, which obviously translated to one person, cole.

I decided to brush off the call as I was midway through the styling. if I let go of my hair, all my earlier progress would be ruined. I paused impatiently waiting for the call to end. It did and i advanced with the procedure, I was roughly interrupted again and this time it was a message notification. Another ping and another and I irritatedly let down my hair doing exactly what I was avoiding, ruining my earlier progress.

Private number: Olivia

Private number: pick up the phone

Private number: I know you're with your phone

Private number: I can tell you watched the phone ring.

There was no logical explanation for how he had known that, except he had bugged my room. But I'd asked him and he'd denied it. Was he lying? But come to think of it. I couldn't recall any instance Cole had lied to me.

Me: did you have my room bugged?

The actual question I wanted to ask was, do you have supernatural powers?. But that'd sound extremely silly.

Private number: no, I didn't.

Me: how did you find out then?

Private number: you just told me

Private number: right now.

Private number: I'm going to call again, pick up this time.

I heard the phone ring again and I slid the green icon to the right almost instantly. I heard a rumbling chuckle from the phone "you love testing me, don't you?"

"No, I don't" I disagreed

"Yes, you do. You like to do things on purpose to get a rise out of me." Cole insisted

"No, I was styling my hair, trying to mimic a YouTube pattern and your call kept cutting into my video and pausing it." I explained

"Send me pictures of it. I want to see how superb you look." He breathed. What a ninety degree switch in attitude, I shook my head at the thought.

"My phone's storage space is extremely low." It was the truth, I couldn't bring myself to let go of all my silly pictures and unnecessary videos. I was the type of person who placed sentimental attachment to my media files.

"Alright, I'll just come over to get a look." He replied as though it were no big deal

"It's 7pm." I stated

"So?" He inquired

"I'll just delete stuff from my phone and create space so I can send it to you" I suggested quickly

"Good girl" he rumbled, I rolled my eyes at that. The beauty of phone conversations? You can make whatever facial expression you like.

"You know what I wish." He stated after a few seconds of silence

"No" I retorted

"I wish we could have a sleepover. We'd have so much fun." He expressed

I chuckled there were a thousand reasons that was a bad idea, an extremely bad idea. "yeah right. My mom's very chill but I don't think she'd be chill enough to approve that."
