I was just in the middle of my imitation of a dignified lady sipping tea, when the message notification ping had me putting down the ceramic cup halfway to my mouth thereby disrupting my fun game of makebelieve. I clicked on the message icon, it was a text from Cara.

Cara🍨💙: I'm home alone

For the oddest of reasons her text brought to the forefront of my memory, the movie 'home alone'.

"Memories." I chuckled before being jolted back to reality by a notification ping.

Cara🍨💙: please come over?

Me: isn't it a bit too late?

It was 7pm already, the skies were gradually turning an ashy shade of grey.

Cara 🍧💙: we could make it a sleepover

Cara🍨💙: my parents are out on a business trip, this is a once in a blue moon opportunity.

Cara 🍨💙: don't say no, pretty please

Cara🍨💙: we'll have so much fun

Me: alright, lemme speak to my mom

Cara 🍨💙: hopefully, she says yes.

I ambled over to my mom's room light-heartedly. She set down her phone to regard me with a questioning look

"Is something the matter, Olivia?"

"Mom, can I have a sleepover with Cara?" I chirped

"Where does she live?" She inquired

I gave my mom an hasty, concise description of cara's house address.

"how're you going to get there?" She asked searchingly

"I'll take the bus." I piped

"Fine, you may go. But call me if anything comes up, okay?" She demanded

"Alright" I nodded appreciatively and proceeded to text Cara

Me: my mom said yes, I'm coming over.

Cara 🍧💙: yaaaaayyyy.

It took about an hour and a few minutes for me to pull on a casual outfit, take along two different apparel, one for bedtime the other for night time and finally arrive at her home.

Cara hugged me ecstatically before ushering me into the house.

"What are we doing first?" I wondered aloud as I plopped onto the couch.

"Let's binge watch movies while simultaneously throwing back drinks." She whooped

"Drinks?" I repeated interrogatively, inwardly awaiting elaboration from her

"Yes." She affirmed simply.

"Like alcoholic drinks or beverages?" I confirmed

"Like alcoholic drinks, I know where the key to the drinks cabinet is." She grinned

"But they taste awful, why don't we throw back juice or soda instead?." I suggested

"Because juice won't get us drunk, alcohol will. Have you ever been drunk?" Cara probed

"No, I've not." I replied truthfully

"Neither have i, we could do it today." She crowed

"If anyone had told me you'd be the one encouraging me to get drunk, I'd have shook my head in disbelief." I commented amusedly
