Chapter Twenty One

-Cole Anderson-

"Hey sweetie, if you get hungry there's some ramen noodles downstairs that you can cook. Don't worry, the instructions are behind the wrapper so before you cook it, please do read the instruction and don't burn the house down. I'm running late to work, my boss is probably mad at me right now!" Mom stood by my doorway as I lay in bed with a massive head ache and a hot body temperature.

"Go, Mom. This is just minor, just cold. Stop making a big deal out of it. And I can cook noodles without the instructions!" I protested feeling like shit. What came over me to play in the rain in the middle of December?

Mom sighed tiredly. "I'll get going now. Take your medicine every 6 hours and get well. Love you!" she closed the door and finally I'm all by myself.

Yesterday, I wanted to go to an icecream shop because didn't that where Al and Kylie said they met? I don't know, I wasn't even longing for an ice cream.

When I flipped her around to face me, I certainly did not expect to came across nose to nose with her. My hands were on the either side of her petite waist and the first thing my eyes glanced were her red, plump lips.

I couldn't breathe. We've never been so close before. We couldn't even be 6 feet near each other or all hell would break lose.

Diverting my eyes off her mouth, I looked at her straight in the eye. A tint of green color laid on her right cheek. A flash of memory came back to me, but I can't help but to doubt her and get worried for her.

She told me it was due to the intense soccer practice, or is it?

I frowned at the same time she pulled out of my arms. She ran a good 30 feet away and stuck her tongue out at me.

"Catch me if you can!" she shouted over the loud pouring rain. Raindrops shun on to her and she looked so free and happy. Her laugh and the way her eyes lit up...I wasn't used to seeing her like this. I'm used to that permanent frown and her head always bowed down.

I felt warmth when she was in my arms. I felt fire when her head was buried in my chest and her arms around my neck, depending for her safety. She was starting to trust me. I don't know whether I should be happy or sad about that.

Asking her to be my girlfriend was never part of the plan. Just a little harmless flirting here and there just when Erin's around.

Erin never marched up to me and exploded though. She never asked why I go to school with Kylie. She never asked an explanation why I hang out with her cousin all of the sudden.

Oh yeah, but we weren't to school this Friday and I'm not in school right now. I'll just have to wait tomorrow or this week then and see what happens.

I shut my sleepy eyes; I was beginning to fall asleep when-

My phone rang.

Not bothering to open my eyes to see who this person is, I swiped my thumb to answer.

"What?" I barked.

"Cole?" a soft voice answered and I immediately felt bad for the way I answered.

"Oh, um Kylie," Memories of her laugh and her lips hit me and I shook it off before I could get lost.

"Where are you?"

"On Earth. Where else would I be?"

"Right, why did I forget you're not gonna be sarcastic," she mumbled and my lips twitched into a smile. "Anyways, where are you? Could you please hurry up? School is starting school and we'll be late if we don't go soon."
