Case 3. Password Killer: Chapter 01. Ma Xin's Doubt

The hot August passed, and autumn arrived. As soon as autumn passed, the weather cooled down. After a long hot summer, people began to regain their energy, and the pedestrians on the street no longer walked with drooped heads and bent backs. All the girls seized this last opportunity of the year to wear their beloved skirts as a farewell to the warm weather.

After a relaxing summer vacation, all the students went back to school and began their intense studies.

When the people of SCI returned from Europe, they devoted themselves to the paperwork for closing the case. After a month, they were finally finished. By then, Gong Sun and Bai Jintang had also returned from their honeymoon.

After a good period of rest, they went back to work. However, there was no case.

Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao went to Bao Zheng a few times, but he had no case either. Therefore, Bao Zheng gave an order to investigate the cold cases.

"Cold case?" Zhan Zhao raised his eyebrows in confusion. "There are many unsolved cases, but none were in the recent years. If the cases are too old, it will be hard to trace backwards for evidence."

"Hmmm..." Bai Yutang stretched and said, "Well, no case is a good thing, right?"

As soon as they arrived outside SCI's office, they saw Bai Chi hurrying back with a book in his arms.

"Chichi." Zhan Zhao stopped Bai Chi. "What are you doing?"

Bai Chi seemed to have been in a hurry, as there was sweat on his forehead. When he saw Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang, he nervously hid the book behind him.

Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang narrowed their eyes as they looked at each other. "He's hiding something!" Both thought to themselves.

"Chichi." Zhan Zhao leaned over, walked up to him, turned his attention towards the other side and asked, "Why so mysterious?"

"No..." Bai Chi turned sideways and moved the book behind his back. Unexpectedly, Bai Yutang reached out from the other side of him and skilfully pulled out the book in his hand.

"Ah!" Bai Chi was surprised after the book was snatched away. Zhan Zhao quickly leaned over and asked, "What is it? Porn?"

"No!" Bai Chi hurriedly said. "It's a new book..."

"Oh..." As soon as Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang looked at the title of the book, they stared at each other with an understanding expression. The title of the book read <A Man's Magic>, which was Zhao Zhen's autobiographical novel.

Bai Chi grabbed the book back sheepishly.

"Oh... It's on sale today, right?" Zhan Zhao smiled. "Did you go to a bookstore to buy it?"

Bai Chi said nothing and nodded.

"If you want one, why don't you just ask Zhao Zhen?" Bai Yutang was amused. "Why did you go and buy it yourself?"

Bai Chi hid the book and said, "You guys can't tell him I bought one."

Zhan Zhao and Bai Yutang smiled. Zhan Zhao put his hand on Bai Chi's shoulder and asked in a low voice, "Zhao Zhen's book must be very popular?"

"Mm-hmm." Bai Chi nodded.

"Is it on the top 5 list?" Bai Yutang also asked.

Bai Chi said helplessly, "The ranking list was blocked by the crowd, so I couldn't see. The queue was very long."

"That many people went to buy his book?" Zhan Zhao was surprised.

"No." Bai Chi said. "There are a lot of buyers, but there is also another book signing today. The line went from the first floor to the fourth floor."
