Zhan Zhao remembered reading a fairy tale called <Bluebeard>. It was originally a very happy story, similar to the plot of Cinderella, but the story was turned into a horror one because of the last golden key.

It was only at this moment that Zhan Zhao really understood no matter how dark and horrifying it was in a fairytale or novel, the author would kindly cover up the most extreme part for the reader.

For the police or medical examiners, dead people and corpses were nothing. After all, no matter how many horrifying corpses they saw, they were just a more stiff and smelly breathless human being. They may have changed shape from the injuries all over their bodies, which was something Bai Yutang and Zhan Zhao had seen many times before... However, it was not until this moment that they realized the real horror of the body did not lie in the injuries, but rather in the deformation. It was not the deformation caused suddenly by a huge external force, but the kind caused slowly over a long period of time.

This room was more like a research room, with a table in the middle, and pretty much all the medical equipment available from back then.

Medical equipment looked like objects that cured patients and saved lives in the hospitals, but in the dark basement, the rusty medical instruments felt more like items of torture.

However, everyone was feeling uncomfortable because of the body in the room, not the equipment.

The main focus was the body!

In the past, there had always been rumours about ghosts and people being hung. Even films and television shows would exaggerate these things, making people think I was all fake. However, when a real dead body was hung for hundreds of years, there would be obvious change on the body, such as the neck being longer and thinner.

In the room, there were rows of large hooks on the roof, each of which had a black metal rope with a head in it and a slender neck below. The necks had been transformed so much that it was impossible to tell they were necks. Under the necks were naked bodies. Even though they were dry, it was still possible to see the many scars. Some had even been deformed.

These bodies were in a mummified state, with dry and wrinkled skin on the surface of the bodies.

Gong Sun pointed to a large fan on the wall and said, "it looks like the bodies was air-dried."

"It still works." Zhao Jue went over, reached out and turned on the big fan. With the sound of the rumbling fan blades, a strong wind blew out. At the same time, the air-dried and light corpses moved slightly. The corpses were almost twisted, and their necks were so slender that they could hardly hold the bodies. They swayed with the wind, as if struggling... It was eerily abnormal and indescribably disgusting.

Perhaps because of the strong smell of death in the air, the little white cub in Zhan Zhao's arms also seemed restless, as it buried its face and placed a paw around Zhan Zhao's arm, trying to get as close as possible. Zhan Zhao reached out and rubbed the cub's neck to comfort it.

Zhao Jue turned off the fan, then looked back at everyone and asked, "what do you think?"

Zhan Zhao sighed, then looked around the room with Bai Yutang and Gong Sun. After looking at the corpses, Gong Sun touched his chin and said, "he specially installed a fan to dry the bodies? Did the owner keep the bodies on purpose?"

"It seems that these bodies were kept to be used as some kind of decoration." Zhao Jue said with a smile.

Gong Sun frowned and looked at Zhan Zhao. He saw Zhan Zhao flipping through the book in his hand and asked, "what kind of family is this?"

"You'll probably understand once you read the book." Zhao Jue said. He reached out, pulled out an iron box from under the table and said to Bai Yutang, "young man, come and do me a favour."
