PRODUCER: What got you into singing?
EZRA sighs and looks away.
EZRA: What if I don't want to share?
PRODUCER: The audience needs something to sympathize with so that they know to root for you. Sometimes singing isn't enough.
EZRA sighs again.
EZRA: I started singing when I was around nine. I remember my sister was diagnosed with a severe brain tumour that spread to her spinal cord when she was around four or five. She had surgery, but the tumour had already messed with her ability to walk, so she has mobility issues. I remember after her surgery; she asked me to sing to her so that she'd feel better, and that happened. It ignited this musical passion in me. If I could sing for her and help her, maybe I could use it to help myself.
PRODUCER: How did it help you?
EZRA: I didn't have too many friends growing up, so it was often a way for me to escape from a life I thought was boring. But don't worry, I have friends now.
