AZALEA'S POV:

I PATIENTLY  leaned back into the luxurious, leather couch, smiling as I watched my mother and father get along. Behind closed doors, this was rare. It's one of my favorite sights to see.

My chubby little hands rested on my lap, my fingers silently tapping my kneecaps. We were supposed to be going to a charity event. A fun lively one; I always loved attending big fancy events with my forever parents.

My protectors, guardians. Rightful parents. The two people that'd love me until they were laying lifeless on their deathbed when the time helpless came.

A large grin was etched across my face, yet I didn't seem to be the one in charge of my actions. I could see myself, my parents. But I'm not myself right now. I'm not in my claimed body. It's almost as if I'm a ghost― silently stalking this family from afar?

My mother kissed both sides of my rosy, chubby cheeks and started to make her way out of the house, my father and I following closely behind.

I remember this.

When my mother walked up to the car, I'd cried, wanting to walk so it'd be encouraging a well-needed conversation between all of us.

Father protested against it, having known the immediate silence that'd slowly suffocate us in the cramped, expensive space.

I frown, knowing my mother. Father had her under a little spell. She would comply with whatever he said, whether it'd be her going through a slow agonizing death or the complete opposite.

And so when my mother's obedience proved false, I was shocked. Although I'm- I was young, It was still surprising nonetheless.

I'm still completely unaware of my surroundings.

I don't like being unaware, yet it seems no one cares since I'm usually left blissfully unaware most of the time.

I slowly turn around, taking in everything as everything around me spun. My eyes widen as I see reality fade into utter darkness. In a moment of visible confusion and swarming questions, I raise my hand, not exactly knowing what I'm trying to achieve. But as expected, I stay frozen in my spot.

I glance over my shoulder. The small family is paused in time. Unmoving.

Where I'm standing, reality just barely carries my feet as it fades into the occurring darkness, one that seems to be easily able to intimate me.

What if I just..

Curiosity overpowers my reasonable, more calculated thoughts as I have a good attempt to step a foot into the endless abyss.

But I don't move. Not one bit.

Am I stuck here?

Once again, I try to move, but backwards instead. My leg lifts from the ground.
