~Colin's POV~

"This better be good," I say as I shut the door behind me and turn to Reese.

Reese looks at me with a small frown.

I frown deeply, I can tell just from his actions that it is. He never would have pulled me away from the first ultrasound of my child without absolutely needing to.

Reese leads me to the elevator, and we ride down to the garage in silence.

When I step out, Reese gestures to the Corvette and my stomach drops. There are huge holes in three of the tires, the passenger window, driver window and windshield is smashed to pieces. It looks like someone took the end of a golf iron to the hood, and then to the door. The door is pried open, and the glove box has been broken into.

My stomach twists in fear and I rush over to the side of the car and push a few things around in the glovebox before I slam my fist against the dash. "Fuck!"

"Sir?"

"The file, it's gone."

"What file?"

I straighten up out of the car and turn to him, my gaze dark and my jaw tight "the copy of Emery's file, I forgot about it and left it in here."

Reese frowns deeply.

"It's her father, that man, it must be," I say. I turn to the car and shake my head pinching the bridge of my nose.

"What do you want to do, sir?"

I glance at Reese "call Harry tell him to have the plane on standby, have London pack Emery and I a bag. Have Captain Greene ready with the yacht ready at the port in Los Angeles. We are disappearing for the foreseeable future."

Reese nods "yes, sir."

I glance at him "tell Harry we need to use a different plane than mine. Have him use one of the companies."

Reese nods "understood."

"And call Charles, I want him to follow us from the house to the tarmac."

Reese nods as we head back up the elevator.

I head down the hall quickly and slip into the room, I walk over to Emery's side. I glance at Dr. Falcone.

"How are they?" I ask.

Dr. Falcone turns to me "they both are healthy."

"Good," I say, before turning my gaze to Emery. "I hate to end this early, but we have to get you dressed."

Emery frowns sitting up "why? What's going on? What did Reese need you for?"

I hold her gaze and kiss her forehead "just get dressed, I'll see Dr. Falcone out. Meet me in the living room and we will talk more." I turn to the doctor as her nurse passes a wet washcloth to Emery.

Breaking into my garage and destroying my car? What does this guy want? What sort of father goes to these sorts of lengths instead of simply knocking on the door and apologizing for being absent for eighteen years? Why did he take that file? Did he know it was in that car? How could he? I had completely forgotten I had left it in there. I had put that in there a few days after Emery and I started seeing each other. It wasn't the first copy Reese had gotten me, it had more information. The hospital she had been born at, the high school she went to, her mother's history. I feel my jaw tighten.

I glance at Dr. Falcone "did you get through everything that needed to get done today?"

Dr. Falcone nodded "yes."
