Distractions are usually not something positive. I remember Jane telling me I needed a distraction, and I arguing, saying I didn't.

But Isaac is a distraction. And I'm thankful. Because of him, I've learned to smile again. I've enjoyed life a little more, and found a reason to live. He's distracted me from the pain I had been enduring all year. And I'm beyond thankful.

So that's why I asked Isaac to take me to the aquarium.

"The Aquarium?" Isaac muttered, wrinkling his nose. "Why?"

"Hey!" I slapped his arm. "I love the aquarium. Your aquarium probably sucked. My aquarium is better."

"Yeah, my aquarium did kinda suck," He confided. "So why are you wanting to go to the aquarium?"

"I have a photography project. We have to create a portfolio that makes people feel like we are in a different part of the world. I chose the ocean."

"Good idea," He had replied.

And so now I am sitting on my front porch, waiting for Isaac to come pick me, mindlessly fiddling with the shoelaces on my sneakers. The mid-November air was cool and crisp, causing me to shiver a little despite the protection of my sweater.
