"Hello Mr. Baker, my name is Isaac Richards, um, I'm your daughters-er-I like your, uh, daughter and um, I was wondering–"
I grumble to myself, stuffing my hands into my pockets, and I try again.
"I really like your daughter, Grace, so um-"
This is going smoothly.
"I was wondering if–"
"Isaac!" My mom calls from downstairs. I roll my eyes, opening my bedroom door, peeking out to see what she wants.
"Yes?"
"Dinner is ready!" She yells. I open the door the rest of the way, heading down the steps to join my mother and sister for a meal of green beans and pork chops.
I pour Mia a glass of milk, handing it to her as I slide into my chair.
"How was school?" My mom asks, cutting a piece of meat and placing it into her mouth.
"Same old Monday." I answer. Grace was still sick over the weekend, but she looked a lot better once we were at school today.
I eat my dinner as quickly as possible, wanting to get to Grace's house to execute my plan of getting her father's permission.
