His hand twitched.

Silence passed between them, except for the noise of the rain.

She breathed out quietly.

"Ah... Please don't misunderstand.
I'm not doing this to get something in return.

We still need to close up the cafe, so I'll be going home late. And we have spare umbrellas for employees."

She hesitated.

"Or... would you rather stay here for hours? You might even get a cold. We have classes tomorrow," she reminded.

He blinked, her words echoing in his head.

"—Aaa! I really need to go back!"

She interrupted suddenly, looking behind her.

She faced him.

"Please, take it already."

He did not move.
The rain fell around them.

Another moment passed.

Then to his utter surprise,
his hand moved by itself.

He took the umbrella from her grasp.

His fingers were slightly shaking, although not enough for her to notice.

The girl's eyes widened.

She looked up at him.

Then, she smiled.

"Have a good evening, Fujiwara-san."

She nodded and turned, slipping back inside.

He watched her through the glass doors,
frozen for a few seconds as he stood there.

There was a horrible feeling somewhere in his chest.
